Hi all!

My name is Sean and i am a proud new owner of an immaculate R34 GT-T. I have defected from the GTI-R camp to the Skyline crew :) and just wanted to say "hi".

I'm 28 and I live in the northern suburbs of Brisbane with my wife Julie. Previous rides include a GTI-R and a Swift GTi. The car i just picked up is:

05/99 GT-T

23,xxxKM

Deep Blue Pearl

ONLY mods are a CD player and Nismo/Bilstein suspension.

Hope to meet some of you around the place. Pity i missed the skid pan day, because i really enjoyed doing Mt Cotton many years ago in my Swift.

cheers,

sean.

Hi and welcome

nice coupe you have there

you'll have to take some more pics so we can see the colour of your paint better.

Yeah photography is a hobby of mine, so i expect in the coming weekends i will be taking off for some proper shoots. The color is very hard to capture, as it looks different to the naked eye even in person. It goes from black, to purple to blue depending on the amount of light :)

Welcome, make sure you become a member of the SAU QLD club!

Yeah now with that.....i saw the sticky at the top of the forum here, but i dont exactly "get" the benefits. Where does the $55/$25 actually go to? I dont believe the sticker and shop discounts account for these fees. Do SAU/Q members get public liability insurance on cruises? Do you have CAMS affiliation? This is where i would see financial value.

Welcome aboard Sean...

Ive seen your car before... Im sure...

I live at Chermside and work at Aspley... Im sure ive seen you before...

I doubt it, but give us a wave if you see me anyway :domokun:

The car was only complied in March and i am the first Aussie registered owner. It was brought in by an importer on the gold coast.

The money goes to the running of the club. Such as we have a club display it is paid for by the club. Say we go for a cruise and parking needs to be paid for. Its pre arranged and paid for. Free or cheaper food on cruises etc (non members pay or pay more). I doubt any club could afford pli on cruises... who the hell would insure 100 skylines, in the one place at once, even if we are extreamly well behaved :domokun:. So yeah, answer the question, thats where your money goes. Back to the members and further promoting the club, and they arent cheap stickers! 3 colours! (sure not $55 worth but hey). BTW, the discount on the tyres alone pays for it for at least a year.

Nice car also. If I had the dosh Id love to move up to an R34. The colour is awesome. Very much look forward to seeing new photos and the car in person. Enjoy it.

QLD club doesnt have cams affiliation as yet... Hence my not mentioning it. I think the exuctives decided its not worth it as yet due to not enough events needing it up here. You guys have more tracks down there. ATM at least anyway.

I was saving almost $50 a corner on my tyres, not cheap tyres but hey. Its worth it, trust me.

Nice car mate! Looks bloody tidy... and I love R34s :P

Re SAU Qld: We used to be CAMS affiliated but our members weren't seeing any benefit from it for the reasons that Daveo has already mentioned. There are very few CAMS tracks and events up here so it wasn't worth paying the renewal fee to retain the affiliation.

One trip to a sponsor will often cover your membership fee, and generally if you're part of a car club you'll be treated much more favourably by workshops and retailers - they know there's a fair chance you know your stuff (so you don't usually get someone trying to sell you blinker fluid :ermm: ), and that if they piss you off there's a whole community of people who'll hear about it and, more than likely, not go there. Also, we hold member-only events (like the Mt Cotton skidpan day) and are on the lookout to further expand our sponsor list. It's becoming increasingly difficult to organise things like the skidpan without involvement in a club.

Just to clarify one point though - SAU Qld Inc and www.skylinesaustralia.com are two separate entities, though obviously we do have common interests!

So you gonna come to the dyno night and see what she puts out before you go over board like we all did into the skyline modifing phase???

Check it out. Be good to put a face to a name and give me a chance to drewl over a black 34.... Ummmmm
