hey all,

next week im going to look at a series 2 r33 gt-st thats for sale and i was wondering if you could give me some pointers as to what to look out for when i check out the car.

Car has done 80K's and looks very clean.

mods are :

blitz turbo timer

blitz pod

turbo smart bov

defi black face boost guage

tein adjustable coilovers and tie down rods

enkei 17" rims

GT-R wing

the asking price is 20.5k, does that sound reasonable or should i bargain abit? The colour is pear white and the car is a manual

ive fallen out of the import loop for the last 2 years but finally im on my way to owning an r33.

well, if theres anything i should look out for me let know.

also, if there is anyone on the goldcoast who is willng or able to help a newbie, would it be possible to come check out the car aswell? As this is my first turbo car i really dont want to get stung with a car that looks good but has been thrashed to death.

cheers

i think u shud bargain abit.. i sold my '96 r33 for 17k flat. had more work done to it and it was in excellent condition, compression was good & body a1. altho i did buy mine for 20k also last year this time. guess u jus gta shop around :) just get it checked out and bring a mechicannly minded friend

all you are doing is focusing on modifications to the car which kinda wont necessarily yeild a good car. you should ideally look for a good clean car that is in awesome condition and if it has a few mods then bonus. the interior state, engine and drivetrain and overall condition are far more important than the mods it has

hey guys thanks for the replies.

yeah i was hoping to find a car the is stock-ish so i can do the mods myself.

i guess all i can do is check the car out and if its clean and in good nick and checks out with the raqc i guess ill be buying it.

cheers

Im looking at buying my first r33 too..

Looked at one the other day - loved it! Got RACQ to look at it - got the full package one (about 200 for the inspection)

And it kinda thew me off...they came back with 2 pages of stuff wrong with it, everything from a blocked window washer nozzle to CV joint on its way out, to a 'illegal interior light' (lol)

Good to know tho.

Ended up not buy that car.

Good $200 investment? Questionable
