Duncan
m3m3nto, do you know anything about its history, I assume its not eligible for cams use in Aus? Sydneykid
Hi m3m3nto, I'm thinkng along the same lines as Duncan. Generally speaking the Japanese spec cages are too small for our regs. What we need to know is the OD of the pipework and its wall thickness. This is particularly relevant to the main hoop (the one juts behind the drivers head). DR.ZOIDBERG
Ive been told this cage was only used for the race look. Im not sure if it can been used in legal drags. I dont know much about them as when I got the car the cage wasnt full installed, The pipe is 4cm and with rubber a good 2inches. Ive been told this the normal size. I know the main hoop seats behind the drivers head, its seats behind the roof light, so a fair bit away from you head when seated. I also know your back seat may need some moding to make it fit in with the cage. I was also told if this was going to be used with drag racing that it would need to pass some test. The cage fits to the roof but does not push the roof in and the is hardly any gap between roof and cage, fits snug. Sorry im not the best with this if you need more info plz ask ill do my best to answer. sorry if i didnt answer ur questions to well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11380-fs-6-point-roll-cage-for-r32/#findComment-192843 Share on other sites
DR.ZOIDBERG
OD = 5inches The thickness is hard to say as it has no holes to let me measure it, going by the joiners I would say 0.5cm thick im only guessing tho. Can you let me know the regulations on the cages so i can find out for myself and others. I will email the guy I got the car off to see if he knows. Sydneykid
Hi M3M3NTO, from memory the CAMS regs for circuit racing is; Material has to be cold drawn steel tube (CDS). Tensile strength = 350 MPa min Main hoop OD = 45 mm with 2.5mm wall thickness or OD = 50 mm with 2.0 mm wall thickness other bars OD = 38 mm with 2.5mm wall thickness or OD = 40 mm with 2.0mm wall thickness Hope that helps Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11380-fs-6-point-roll-cage-for-r32/#findComment-193014 Share on other sites

DR.ZOIDBERG
Cage is.... Main Hoop OD = 40mm with 2.5mm thick others bars are the same. This is a Jap cage and is not made for drag racing, the bars are in good condition, rubber needs a clean and has a few marks. Im asking $700.00 Neg, Aproved Racing Roll Cages are worth well over $1k. Targa Tom
Hey M3M3NTO I think the "Kid" is trying to say maybe too expensive.... Dunno, but an approved bolt in to meet CAMS X Sydney inc GST around $AUD800.00. The "race look" is fine and dandy, but maybe this will give you an idea of what the market can stand. DR.ZOIDBERG
you don't need a roll cage to pass Andra unless your running a 10 second 1/4 mile and then it can be a bolt in, if you do 9's it has to be welded in so for your average Joe this cage is fine and I find it hard to believe that you can buy an approved bolt in for $800 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11380-fs-6-point-roll-cage-for-r32/#findComment-196060 Share on other sites

DR.ZOIDBERG
It will fit a GTST but u will have to mod the back seat, have to cut a little of each side, ive been told this is easy for people who deal in that stuff. if you have more questions email me at [email protected] Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11380-fs-6-point-roll-cage-for-r32/#findComment-243250 Share on other sites
