Diff Filler Plug

hey all,

im trying to change my diff oil, i can loosen the drain plug with a 1/2 ratchet, but the filler plug on the side of the diff is some kind of hexagon shape and none of my tools will fit in it. I was just wondering if any of you guys who have changed diff oil on a R33 GTS-T before tell me what kind of tool is necessary??

umm...you have a special plug...normally it is identical to the drain plug

out of interest....you did follow the #1 rule and open the filler before you opened the drain plug right? otherwise you will need to tow it to a workshop if you can't open it.....

u can use a good old spanner...if u have a big enough one u can get soem leaverage...or use a pipe to extend it...it shouldn't be that hard though.

sounds like someones rounded out the filler plug

If it isnt round etc, then try finding the right sized nut to fit into it, then weld the nut to the corresponding bolt etc and use a socket to undo it.

i only tried to see if i could loosen the plugs, didnt drain any oil. Far as i can see, only the drain plug is not stuck.

A pair of vice grips will do the trick if you have rounded the edges... might take a bit more muscle to crack it tho.

It's on the diff.

Above half way up.

In the passenger side.

It's likely that your exhaust obstructs the view a bit.

Keep looking man. You can find it

I found it thanks man, never seen one on the side usually half way on the back of the diff or front, plus it was covered in crap so that didn't help at all, she feels awesome now :-D.

OP, sounds like its an inhex fitting. Something you would need a large alen key for?
