Strange basket looking thing.....

While under the Skyline yesterday, checking out how the Hicas System works, I noticed a plastic basket thing bolted to the rear panel...(drivers side)

Does anyone know what it is exactly, and what it's purpose was..or is...

No sorry guy's i can't provide a photo...due to one of our Cruiser girl's breaking the camera last week....

For those that have Skyline's if you can stick your head right under (if it's there) it will be bolted to the steel just down from the rear wheel....

ill try to locate a camera.....

ok i had a bit of a look under mine and im not sure if im looking at the same thing as you...ok but here goes

on mine i see this black i guess basket looking thing with vents in it....and it is bolted into the rear panel...as far as i can tell this is just a blastic cover to protect the things on the inside... as my car is different to most other r33's i have a resivor in the boot for my active diff. my plastic basket thing i would say is there to protect this and its contents eg such as the hose coming out and going to the diff and also there are a few other gizmos in there that may be related not sure??

Left or right side...... on the exhaust side...(LHS) There is a hose and vent thing on mine,i think that is for runoff of something...is there anything on the otherside..... That's where the one in question is

I thought it might be a secret compartment for something.... but it is exposed to the elements so that theory went out the window....

Prolly a vent into the bottom side of the boot. Have a look to see if it has a rubber flap deal, or, from the inside of your boot take the trims out (drivers side) and ferret down a bit and you should see the vent and inside of the basket thingo....if it is the thingo I am thinking you mean....

Close.... imagine the flat piece screwed to the wall.....

my guess that is what it is there for.... to house the active diff stuff

yep.... the hicas is mounted to something else.... behind the diff....

a photo would help.... Damn that digital camera being broken...
