Do what i did and get an sr20 pulsar for 2 years untill your at LEAST 20. Now I have a clean history and Just Car has me on Rating 3 making my 33 insurance $1200. I imagine you will also have more of a chance of staying alive this way too, no disrespect to anyone but IMO a turbo 33 for under 18 is just insane.

alrite thanks guys for all your advise, but i reckon i will just get 3rd party fire and theft insurance with Just cars. that quote came to $406. which sounds like a reasonable deal compared to some others out there..

man i wish it was that cheap thats peanuts of a price .seriuosly mate not to sound mean but wake up to your self that is so ridiculasly cheap its not funny. i would pay it twice just for fun (jokes).

mine cost me $3250. that was the cheapest i could get a 20 yr old p plater..i think you must of lied to get it that cheap..i supose it must be different and more expensive in sydney ..

I can't believe nobody has said if you can't afford the insurance you can't afford the car. Seriously you shouldn't be complaining about your insurance being that price. I'm 19 and my insurance is around 3k for a 32 gtst so you should be happy.

As people have said, $1900 for comprehensive insurance for a turbo skyline for your age is VERY good. I started on $2500 4 years ago and i have just been placed onto a rating 1 paying $1117 (with rating one protection) with just cars.

Just remember though, that with fire, theft, you will only get paid out a maximum value of $7000 or something. Is that really going to cover you if the car does get stolen/set on fire? I looked at doing this option to pay cheaper insurance, but I just couldn't justify paying the premium to only be insured for a maximum value of $7000 if the car was stolen.

Personally, I only have my insurance incase I hit someone or the car is stolen/written off. It costs way too much to claim and unless the damage done is more than $2500, I wont be claiming.

Shit.. thanks for those tips...

Im actually 25 and pay 1100 for full cover with rating 1 protection with Just Cars... u got it bit better

Yeh anyway, dont buy the car if u cant insure it properly.

yeh sounds like i am getting a fair good deal. i actually got a second job today, by day im an apprentice plumber and as of today by night ill be a pizza maker at pizza hut. hahaha. i know its lame but anything to get the extra $$ for petrol and incase i need a claim or want to upgrade to comprehensive.

hey you should also consider getting a quote for your car after you have added all the modifications you are planning.

i'm 19, green p plates and in sydney. first time getting insurance and have been placed as rating 2 (is this normal?) and paying $1964 for a 98 gt-t full comprehensive. stock for now but with a full bodykit, exhaust, frontmount, 2500K wheels and 2500K system my premium goes to $2300. quite reasonable i must say.

they put you on a rating 2 with no previous insurance history? Your very lucky there :)

hey thanks, i was a bit worried before i bought the car as a few of my friends who were a bit older than me were paying 3-4k for insurance. I'm just thankful not to have any driving history or claims.

Now to the point of the story, when i head out into town or simply just driving places i see highly modified Skylines and WRX's etc driven by P platers. i called up Just Car Insurance just before and they quoted my $1900 for comprehensive insurance. i dont know about you but i think that is rediculous. i mean i see where they are coming from because i am nearly 18 driving a turbo but $1900!!! Geesus!

wtf? $1900 is average for a P plater. Just Cars quoted me $2740 for my Supra RZ agreed value of $37,000. Dont forget we P platers are a "High Risk"

hey fella's i have bought the R33, f*kin mamouth machene!! i ended up gettin the 3 rd party insurance with fire and theft. my parents are givin me $1000 and putting it into a fund where it gains interest so one day i will be able to afford comprehensive. so now that means no 18th party, but oh well. the skyline deffinatly makes up for it. cheers for all ya comments and stuff.

    • Excuse me for butting in....but which part of ADHD can be considered a superpower? I would have though it far more likely that some ASD comorbidity is more likely to be contributing to an ability to hyperfocus on something. ADHD being aimed somewhat in the other direction. My shed looks like your shed. My whiteboard list of unfinished projects has entries going back 15 years. I know what you're talking about - I just struggle to connect ADHD to the results being discussed.
    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
