I didnt loose any boot space :) .....well a minimal amount anyway.

youl be looking for a long time lol.there arnt any tuturials on how to do something like that.im more then happy to help you with the design of something but you will need to have some very good wood working stills and or fiberglassing skills and knowlage to pull it off nicly,or no someone that does.

every one has to start somewhere tho so dont be afraide to give it ago! at worst youl throw away maybe $100 in materials.

i just did this on the weekend and its fantastic! unfortunatly i had apline r type 6x9's and they didnt fit :banana: but luckily i had some apline r type splits to throw in. i threw the tweeters in just above where the seatbelt goes into the sidewall. sounds fantastic and i would recommend it if you have a spare weekend and just want to shill out at home. besides the 6x9's it cost me $30 all up. i eliminated heaps of rattles and new carpet on the mdf looks good too.

i didnt really plan anything and i took me a saturday and sunday, at a slow pace sinking a few beers here and there and just chilling out while i did it.

just make sure you measure your 6x9's before they go in, thats your only worry. i didnt break anything either so its esay to take it out and throw the old crappy shelf back in. i dont know why i would though...

didnt read the whole thread so dunno if its been covered

but i didnt have to do any of that.... i just bought some lifters for the 6x9s, took the grills off the speakers and they were an easy fit..

no custom anything...

I had 6x9's in with spacers on my standard parcel shelf, but since this weekend i finally got round to lowering my 33 I decided to make a new parcel shelf, Iv got my 6x9's facing the other way, my opinion it looks better lol but still need to use a spacer sort of, One question though, How have u guys mounted it in there? or is ur new parcel shelves just sitting in there between the seats and window? lol

i was going to put in 6x9's but i was told that it cant be done without cutting in to the car. so i was bummed out but i was thinking that there is a shit load of space back there and somebody must have a solution.

so i go on to SAU and do a search and i found this idea. originally i was thinking of putting 6x9 on a 45 degree angle with fiberglass but this sounds like the best option.

i wont to put in the 6x9 in the back for the bass. because i dont want to spent over 1G for my system and a sub and amp just kills my budget.

but it look super cool and easy what a small board of MDF is like under $20 and the carpet is nothing

great job i would pay like $200 if i didn't know how to do it

How deep can the 6x9's be so no problems are encountered.

Thinking of doing this as a weekend hobbie thing.

hey, great job mate... ive started doing the project myself yesterday... as i had taken the parcel shelf out and took a closer look at the vents, noticed i couldnt take them out..

how do i take the vents out?

and also.. what do you think, 6mm mdf or 12mm mdf?

    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered

    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
