R34 Engine Check Light

In the last couple of weeks every now an then, the engine check light comes on, at the same time the engine then starts missing like its running on 5 cylinders etc. Twice its only lasted a few seconds then come good on its own, an twice, ive turned the engine off and started it again only for it run run perfectly once restarted. Now ive extracted the code, and its a code 12 (Mas Airflow Senor Signal Circuit). The other weird thing is that when it brings on the engine check light, the slip light come on and stays on. The annoying thing is that its so random. has anyone had a similar problem?
