I know it has probally been covered before but i have done a search and cant find any info, so some help would be much appreciated :)

Im looking for some information on an hks2510 on a rb20, have any of you had any experiance with this setup??what are the pros and cons??I have read that the exhaust housing is the same size as the standard rb20det turbo but has steel/bigger wheels and a bigger compressor housing, would it run out of puff higher in the rpm??Have also read that it spools pretty much the same as the standard turbo and is only able to make 200-220rwkws at the most on about 1.1-1.3bar.I really want to go for a hks2530 but they are quite hard to come by here in N.Z (have seen them for sale for $3.600 brand new )

Here are the specs of the 2510

HKS GT2510 - 300 PS Output

COMPRESSOR:

-Wheel- 63 Trim - 47.7 Inducer / 60.1 Major

-Housing- 60 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.60 A/R

TURBINE:

-Wheel- 62 Trim - 53.0 Major / 41.7 Exducer

-Housing- GT25 inlet / Internal GT25 oulet - 0.64 A/R

Cheers ;)

Jason

I dont know 2530 is hard to bet

I only know one 32 with a 2510 power fig was 205 rwkw at 1.5 bar

seems like a heap of boost for not much power

also guy I know sort of just got his 32 tuned with 2530 cams n pfc he made 252rwkw at 17psi so it seems 2530's can make a bit more than the usual 230

A little longer searching would have yielded success. There was a thread back in about October relating to this unit.

Similar/same compressor as a 2530, with a less aggressive (smaller trim) turbine. Limited experiences posted on the 2510, but it should give stock-type boost response and hang together when you do put some boost into it.

If it's available for moderate cost, it's worth a go if power aims are not too great.

cheers

What do you want ?

What are your aims?

If approx 200rwkw from an RB20 is your aim... then the 2510 is a good choice

200rwkw sounds like a good goal, the car is actually an auto so i guess im aiming for somewere around 190rwkw (about 205-210rwkw in a manual), i dont want a turbo thats going to be running at its max all the time (1.5bar does seem like alot of boost for 200rwkw,it is a rather small turbo so i guess it needs lots of boost to make its power) i also want the car to be responsive and quick. Will the 2510 bolt right on without any mods to (dump pipe, water lines, oil lines and intake pipe etc).I can pick up the hks2510 for about $1000 n.z 2nd hand, the 2530 sounds like the ideal turbo for the good old rb20 but are rather rare here in N.Z.

I searched CHRIS32 and it didnt come up with anything

Cheers

I think I mentioned this last time round but the 2510 is older thinking within HKS's range , sort of along the same lines as the GT2540 and GT3040 . Using a lower flowing and smaller turbine is not the best way to tone down the 2530s compressor end (ie 2510) .

A better way to do it is to use the more open bladed GT28 turbine with a slightly smaller trim compressor than the 2530 or 2510 did . This gives you better turbine response and ultimately more overall exhaust flow through the turbos hot side . Tis far better to limit a turbos capacity with the compressor side than the turbine side .

HKS knows this and sells a model specific GT28BB known as the GT-SS which is intended for the SR20DET . This version gets the right combination of turbine and I think a 60mm 60 trim compressor . Needs the HKS turbine housing from the 2530 or GT-RS for their T3 flange and RB type dump pipe flange . I sure I found a Garrett GT BB cartridge with similar or same wheels so something to look into .

Don't confuse the SR20 and RB26 GT-SS's because the turbines and compressors are not the same .

Cheers A .

"hey 1400r you got any more details on the 2530 with 250rwkw?? cam specs??"

sorry I dont know there only small though 264's with adj cam gears? the cars been setup for drift and has had a lot of brand new parts put on it.

"Thats good power out of a 320hp turbo?????? Sure its not a 2535????"

Im fairly sure it was brought brand new
