Battery Charging

Dont know how or whybut I got stuck with a flat battery. Jump started and did not miss a start again today.Drove 200k so presume altenator is ok.

On some vehicles you have to disconnect the battery terminals before connecting a charger. Is this necessaryon a Stagea?

I would disconnect the negative and attach the negative jump to a metal part on the block, say the thing just near the coolant air hole.

Then attach the positive direct without disconnecting.

i normally take both of the erminal off and then charge it overnite. Check you fluid lvl as well you might nee to top up a bit with distilled water. I use Ro water its fine (reverse osmosis)

YUP, I take everything off, and maybe the battery out of the engine bay...... ever seen battery acid overrun weep down a bike fairing? Not pretty......

In fact my battery died once the stereo sucked it clean. One of the cells was gone, coudnt nurture it anylonger. Got a nice 440ca one in atm, turns over straight away.

Cold Cranking Amps. That is how the capacity is mesured

i'm no mechanic but on our coaches we had to disconnect the computer fuses before connecting the jumper lead to prevent spikes. On the stagea I dont believe this is necessary as there is no power to the computer if the ignition is off (someone can correct me on this)

The S2 has a separate quick release terminal on the +ve post which provides all auxillary power the the car. the main leads only power the starter motor.

Secondly. most chargers have a hi and low setting. If charging over night, set on low and open breather caps on the battery.

battery went ferlatttt again. did not disconnect terminals and it seemed to have had no adverse effectsDont know wether battery is stuffed or alternatot not working . dash light is not on so must be the battery. wish it had a battery gauge like my MR30.

Just buy a new one, by the sounds of it........ part of regular maintenance I suppoose.

Get one that came with my beast, 880CCA Oddessy marine battery, gel cel I am glad I didnt have to pay for it!!

well that would be because my stagea is a Series 2 rs four s which is a different model to most of the other stageas going around

Also there is no such thing as a "standard" vehicle in Japan, buyers are given a page list of options and they tick which ones they want and are charged accordingly. Well at least that is what I have been told.......?

How do you get a 550 in. is there a brand that has pissy little terminals as are standard on an S1

Glad I didnt buy it though, cost ~$1k and it is the tiniest little thing, but never had problems with spark, ever!

bit the bullet and got a 600cca. had to change the cable fittings . wotks fine but looks s/house compared to the original fittings.
