Hi guys and gals,

My power steering started playing up again and it is due to a power steering fluid leak as diagnosed by my trusted mechanic.

He has just gotten a quote from Nissan that the 3 power steering hoses that needs to be replaced costs $800 from Nissan and had to be ordered from Japan.

$800 for 3 hoses!!! I was thinking a few hundred due to one of the hoses is a high pressure flexable hose but $800...???

Does this sound about right?

I don't want to get 2nd hand from the wreckers as I might have the same issues again. Does anyone know where I can get cheaper?

Thanks.

Yes for genuine parts it would be. Either:

Talk to Rezz to get cheaper oem hoses, or

go to Pirtek like i did, and spend a total of $20 on the 3 replacement lengths. The largest one back to the reservior was a tad smaller in the internal dia., but it doesnt matter :P

My GTR friend had one of his hoses redone, reclamped, etc for a third of the price of a genuine replacement. He had it done somewhere in Sydney, but I can't recall the name of the business.

Still, might be worth having a place make up new ones, using your old ones as a template? I'd guess you'd at least halve that cost?

I had this dilema a while back - needed to replace the PS reservoir to PS pump hose but no one had it obviously being an import. When I gave up I went to Nissan only to find out it was $140 just for that hose :

So off to Enzed I went and got some decent hosing and some fittings. Probably ended up costing me 30 bucks total.
