Last weekend i was driving from Sydney to Melbourne via Hume Highway. It was like 3am in the morning,a supra drove past me and slow down(i think he was waiting for me) and when i catch up,overtake him and he pull next to me and overtook me again. I was doing 120(i should be driving 90) and we keep overtaking each other for a few times, than i start to get annoying. So i put down a gear and drove past him. About 20 seconds later,a car behind me is flashing high beam,i thought f&%k man,not again..SO i just ignore it,less than 10 seconds later it start to flash blue and red lights, than i know is a cop.(Not the supra, there is a highway petrol hiding in the bush) I was doing 160 at the time,so they pull me over, took my license, gave me a paper that says i have to go to court. I dont blame anyone but when i think about it now i feel how stupid i was..

Today my gf drive my car, some how she lose control and bend the front right hand side wheel..Does anyone know where i can find some parts for that(i dont even know what i need) around Northern Beaches in Sydney..

been there done that..

prob lower control arms.. or hub assy.. you really need to have a look under... also check that your nothing is leaking.. if so it will either be your shocks or steering rack..

get it on a hoist so you know what u need.. ring round just jap, and places round moorebank.. bit of a trek but if u get the best price it will save u alot..

good luck

Corinne

well unfortunately you will be getting nicely f**ked when you go to court. nothing you can do, you broke the law and got caught. some people would say that 160 in a 90 zone at 3am is a tad reckless and i'm sure the magistrate will be one of them.

160 in a 90 zone? That wat 70 k's over the speed limit? If you go over 45 or more over hte speed limit that a licence supension of minimum three months. But since u did more u might get more. Sorry to hear, but doode u shouldn't let another w@nk make u speed as much as u did. Would have been better to be annoyed or slowed down than lose ur licence for several months.

How did u get home that nite anyway...just out of curiosity.

160 i say dont worry about the car cause you wont have a license for a long time

No way man,i love my car..Im thinking of selling it,but never let it sit there with a damage..

Any way,ill let you guys know how long i will lose my license..hopefully no one will need that information..

I also got pull over by the cops when i had my r33 on the Hume Highway but thats was about 4 years ago... and i was trying to catch up with this black supra... but i was doing a 100 but the cops pulled me over when i was at 70 and told me that i was speeding and they had me on camera about 3km ago doing 105 which is funny because i would have thought they would get the supra before me since i know that thing was doing atleast 140 and was way ahead of me... i wasn't going to go that fast....

    • Well some mostly good news and some slight bad news.  Good news is cylinder 6 did in fact only require a honing and I'm good to run my 86.5mm pistons again. I should also get the block back by end of week. Bad news, had a few surprises pop up. First, main and rod bearings were trashed. No sign of any heat damage. I knew right away what caused this... I had not packed my oil pump originally and spent a lot more time than I would have liked cranking the motor to get oil pressure. It sounded fine once started so I chucked it up to luck and forgot about it. Luckily rod and crank are fine and just need new bearings. Engine builder agreed that this was the cause.    Another surprise that carbon covered up very well that I didn't catch, something got sucked up and went through cylinder 1, 2 and 3. Luckily this was no cause for concern, just needed a bit of cleaning up. Valves look fine but he will vacuum test the head this week to confirm. I'm presuming this was something left over from welding my intercooler piping, but we'll never know. I'm going to thoroughly reclean everything.    So all in all, happy the motor is fine, and I'll get it back much sooner than expected. I'll also be taking the time to convert my WMI system over to direct port. I'll snap some pictures of that when the parts come in.
    • I understand, thanks. Yeah I wouldn't want the car to tip over, I'll try and use the sills, I don't want to risk smashing the chassis rails. I ordered some rubber pucks that have a hopefully big enough slotting. If the front right gives me trouble I can always just make a wood block. I'll measure and inspect the sills closer once I actually take the car up. I hope so, but the rubber blocks I had in hand so far were pretty damn firm, if they are that hard they won't give much way. I'll let you know what happens. Angle grinding rubber isn't one of my favorite tasks. I'll probably start a build thread soon, for my own documentation and "log" as well as sharing what's going on with the car.
    • Kinda something I have been thinking about.  To be honest, we bought it already driving like that.  So there's no telling how long it actually has been driving like this.  Hopefully damage is too bad when we drop the pan.   I am having a hard time finding a site that sells the solenoid for the 5 speed auto, do you have any suggestions?
    • That'll be most likely down the road...  LOL
    • a stock / option or aftermarket?
