Hey guys,

I have recently had my car fully retuned & since getting it back, everytime i shut the car off it seems to want to keep going. What i mean is when i turn the key off the engine is still trying to run, but sounds as though its out of fuel or something. Why wont it just fully shut off when i turn the key?? The tuner seems to think the pistons have carbon build up on them??

Any help would be great! Thanks

sounds bout rite. carbon on your valve/pistons can glow, causing a deisel effect. basically the air and fuel are stil getting sucked in but instead of the spark plug igniting the mix, the glowing carbon buildup is. you should get it fixed, as at high revs, this could cause detonation, and demolish your engine.

Sounds like your injectors are incorrectly wired up to 12V constant.. meaning when IGN is turned off, the spark continues. It's only when the fuel in the rail is expended that the motor cuts out.

You don't have a turbo timer hidden away or anything like that?

I'm not sure about the carbon continuing to burn.. but it's possible in theory.

Is there any way to get this carbon off?? Im not sure if he touched the injectors? I assume not.

He mentioned that its running 22deg timing?? Its just got me puzzled, as this never happened to it before it went in for the tune. & he cant think of what it might be also.

Is it bad that this is happening??? Will it wreck my engine??

thanks for your help!

If it wasn't doing it before the tune then it _has_ to be something your mechanic has done and he needs to fix it. Stock ign timing for an R32 GTR is 20degBTDC, so 22deg is not too far out. I'd suggest that your mechanic needs to look at the work he's done and if he's any good he should be able to identify the things that would cause or contribute to the problem.
