hey guys,

just putting some sway bars on that i had bought from whiteline a while back, its the 24mm adjustable with two holes only.

The problem i'm having is the D bush on one side just doesnt wanna squeen into the bracket, it seems too chucky, even tried opening the bracket up abit but then the holes for the bolts wouldnt line up.

Anyone had a similar problem? or am i just retarted.

Thanks

George

Hey George,

I had the same problem when I installed my whiteline front sway bar. The best I could get in the end was the bush being slightly offset with the bracket (one side of the bush sits about 5mm outside the bracket).

This was a concern at first, however after 6 months of driving, the bush hasn't budged.

Hi George, on side fits and the other side doesn't, are the bushes different or the brackets?

:) cheers :O

I had a similar issue, except neither side wanted to play. I was wondering whether gtr and gtst have different brackets and that was the issue?

I was more concerned about the bushes deforming too much and eventually tearing once i did get the brackets back on the car after a lot of swearing.

The bushes are tight fit, they have to be to prevent any unwanted movement. Polyurethane is stiffer than the softer, easily deformed rubber bushes which slip in and out easily. But that is exactly what they are supposed to be, stiffer, so that there is no lost motion, the stabiliser bar works as it should. Polyurethane is pretty tough stuff, don't be afraid to tighten it up, just make sure that you grease the contact area with the stabiliser bar properly.

:) cheers :P

Thats good.

Just had me worried when every bit of documemtation i have seen on poly bushes specifically says don't over tighten, and by the amount they deformed when everything was tightened up i figured it was the same thing.

You cant really overtighten a D Bush, the bracket bottoms out first.

The overtightening rule is more for crush style bushes where there is nothing to stop you.

You can actually tighten them so much they push out of the side of the washer and split.

:) cheers :P

thanks for the posts everyone.

i finally got them in, was really tight and difficult. Then to have rattle gun set on the highest power and breaking the stud for the bracket.

Great value for money upgrade, car was at oran park today, such a different car now.
