Hi guys

Juts had a quick question to ask I have got a r34gtt and I wanted to know if its worth putting a xenon lights back on...

The guy who did the conversion for compliance has still got all the parts needed... so I just wanted to know if its worth putting back on... he's going to charge me about $700-$900 depending on the time taken...

$700-$900

What a rip off. An aftermarket HID kit takes maybe 1-2 hours to hook up and test.

The HIDs, although removed for compliance, are still technically under your ownership. Get them off the compliance guy and do it yourself or get an auto electrician to fit them.

Its worth it. the converted lights that i got after compliance just dont compare to xenons.

i say do it, but price may be a bit high for someone who is putting something on the car that was original and what is really yours anyway.

my dealer charged me $100 labour to put them back on...which was fair enough. I have heard they generally charge between $300-$400 for a swap over to original xenons..which is not too bad as well. But your dealer is tryin to rip u off big time! Last but not least...yes, the xenons are well worth it!

From what Ive heard they dont destory the xenon parts anymore, they just hand it back to you after compliance.

But yeah $700 to $900 thats a joke just demand your parts back and im sure someone can do it for a few hundred. Xenones are definately worth fitting back on, makes alot of difference compared to the halogens.

It depends on how they did the conversion if you can reconvert them or not .

Usualy they cut the cable that goes to the globe inside the light, if they did that, they cant be reconverted with the orginal balast.

If the cable has not been cut ( they just cut the plug and you can still get to the cable ) it can be reconverted easy using the existing balast, plug and globe.

If you are in Sydney give me a p.m. if you like, i can do them for you for $100 if you supply the balast, plug globe and h/lights.

Hi guys I still haven’t been able to source the parts for the xenon conversion.. Does anyone know some who complies r34’s that can change mine back to xenon...?

I thought u said your complicance guy has all parts needed?? If he took it out, why cant he put it back in??

The problem with that guy is that he want to charge me 600 just for the parts and i know you can get them for much cheaper then that...

Put your foot down

These are YOUR parts from YOUR car.

Why the hell should he charge you money for something that's rightfully yours?

I suggest you tell him you will go to the ACCC if you don't get them back.

I thought it was the law for the compliance place to DESTROY the item once they had been taken off the car.

So doesnt that mean that legally they shouldnt exist, so he cant force the guy to hand over items that should have been destroyed?

If he was to go to the ACCC and they got in touch with the guy, he could just say he destroyed them like he was supposed to.... right?

Pac, i think the guy has you by the balls and there isnt much you can do about that, except to pay his greatly overpriced labour amounts.

Rant, rave and threaten them with ACCC action? <- I'm not condoning this by the way

However if what Mr Italy! said is true and they say they threw them out as they were legally obliged to do so, then you maybe shit outta luck.

So hes trying to make money by selling the parts back to you? Thats a disgrace.

    • I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies.
    • It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver.  But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest.
    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
