Afm Workings

Hey guys, just a question more out of interest, was cleaning my afm the other day and was wondering how exactly they work?

Any experts?

Theres an elememnt that heats up and this element is cooled down by the passing air. The more air that flows over it the cooler it gets and the resistance changes of the element.

Very accurate way of determining how much air is flowing into the motor.

Yep and when they get dirty they can't accurately measure the air or go a bit haywire, especially at low loads.

Ahh cheers guys, now I understand the smoke coming off it when I cleaned it while it was hot, hope I didnt damage anything cleaning it hot?
