I didnt think you could transfer ownership while still on finance? I sold my car that at the point of advertising was on finance. I explained this to the guy, got a loan to pay the finance out, he got the all clear from Vic Roads and I sent him the clearance from the finance company. If this is the case, how did you end up owning the car or is it possible to purchase still on finance?

You can transfer ownership of vehicle even if it's still under finance thus why you always make sure revs checks are done.

Don't see why rego has anything to do with his finances??

You are not allowed to sell a car that you still have under finance.

Problem is its not VICroads' problem. If u buy the car then the bank comes to repossess the car, bad luck. Its up to you to sue the guy you bought it off.

Most likely he's bankrupt (since the bank has started repossesing his assets) and you get nothing from him.

So if the car is still under finance, and you're not allowed to sell a car under finance, why are you selling it? So that it gets repossessed from someone else?
