Yes you can but you will need to have it followed up with a quick check up on the dyno...

It should not change much but it will though the current tune out a little bit and its always best to visit the dyno after you touch anything as important as a AFM.

I bought a z32 with the tomei adapter plug and it looks a bit different.

I have 4 wires

Black with white trace

black

White

Brown

I have a series II R33, would be good to have colours to match from and to.

The car is in the workshop so i cant look at the stock one atm.

But i was going to be charged $300 to fit the AFM and new injectors which I think is a bit steep.

Plus more $ for the tune

If you put the plug into the afm and look at it the same as the picture below, you will have the same outputs from the Z32 just the wire colours will be different...

Z32AFMWiringcopy.jpg

So if the black with white trace is in position (2) then sustitue it for orange with black trace for this installation...

Does this make sence??? If not put the plug into the AFM and take a close up photo and post it here...

Yep thanks... I just noticed the little letters on the plug and the little letters, ABCD etc in your pic.

My plug is different to the one in your tute, but the wires wil be in the same order, I think i got the Tomei plug, its "squarer" with different wires.

R34 GTT uses the 3 wire AFM same as Series 2 R33 and the guide is the same...

(Please correct me if im wrong, but thats what ive seen on the R34's ive worked on)

and yeah you need to buy the plug with the AMF as the stock plugs are as usless as a cardboard wetsuit...

Umm I assume the R34 is similar to the S2 R33? As my AFM is kaput, its practically undrivable atm I need to replace the AFM

If I attach a new z32 and do the soldering will the car be drivable at least?, or that the remap would be a critical factor to make it work.

Ive got a PFC btw.

Acoustik,

if you need an AFM for a R34 RD25DET, try looking for the Maxima VQ30DE AFM. It's the same. I found this out the hard way! :D

edit: just found the tute by cubes (maybe add it to the members list of tute threads?)

im searching for a install of a z32 into a r32.

is it right that r32 wiring will be the same as the r33s1 wiring in this tute, cause i believe r33s1 afm is the same as a r32???

:)

Hi Paul, how confident are you in the plug wiring for the RB20DET AFM on your web site?

RB20 AFM Nissan Skyline R32

Wire A - Not Connected

Wire B - Signal

Wire C - 12v Ground

Wire D - Signal Ground

Wire E - 12v Power

Mine, a 1990 R32GTST, seems to be;

Wire A - Not Connected

Wire B - Signal Ground = black

Wire C - 12v Ground = black

Wire D - Signal = white

Wire E - 12v Power = black with white stripe

Cheers

Gary

I have this issue, my R34 has 3 wires, but apparantly the adapter plugs for the Z32 (which i was told by the person i bought it from on the SAU forums that it was suited for the R34 RE25DET Neo engine, which is what i have), but his AFM didn't come with a plug because his tuner lost it, so i went to an auto elec and they said the plug for my Z32 AFM is 6 pin with 4 wires.

Have i got the wrong AFM?

Is there a different plug?

Is there a work around?

Cheers,

Matt

In reply to the above, i had an auto elec fit mine, he just earthed the 4th wire :D

I have a PFC, even with the self learn process it still does not allow the car to run properly, when you install one of these, make sure you just splice off the existing wire and leave the existing plug intact incase you need to go back to stock.

I gaurantee you will need to get the car tuned afterwards, it simply doesn't run properly unless it gets the tune

Thanks mate, might get the tuner to fit and map my pfc at the same time.

Cheers
