Hi, I'm having problems with my fuel gauge on my manual 1996 Skyline (Series 2), lightly modified. It started happening last weekend, the fuel gauge or the needle shows that I have no petrol, but I filled the car last week. When the car is stationary the needle starts to climb up and when I start moving it goes down? There were no other warning signs that was flashing on my instrutment and the car is running fine. I checked the underneath the car for any leaks and check the fluids on the car, all seems to be OK. Could it be my fuel filter or fuel pump to be faulty?

Also a lot people are hearing humming or whinning sounds from their differential, my car seems to have these symptoms. Can anyone recommend a differential specialists?

Thanks.

with the fuel gauge, I would say its the fuel pump and rod laying around in your tank. It would ahve come off the hook that it sits on. if this is the case, put it back on the hook. But if you are going to check it, and you do have future plans to upgrade your car, I would suggest replacing the fuel pump when checking this. its a c*** to open.

i also have that noise, it sounds like the tailshaft is loose or something mechanical at the rear of the car. mine does it when I'm in 3rd gear and doing about 40km and i left the foot off the accelerate petal and no braking. I would like to know what it is, or how too fix it.
