IF you want performance, dont go near the 1970's design T04/T03 or any other hybrid

there are FAR better options on the market.

RB25 turbo is probably the best (and cheapest) upgrade.

Please search, this has been covered extensively.

And read here:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=103095

now now paul... thats a bit negitive....

a mate of mine put an Ebay T04e on his rb20det, but had some supporting mods, such as 3" turbo back exhaust, front mounted intercooler, puel pump, etc running 15psi i think it was

it was very good .. in that the power was good.. however lagg was a big problem.. turbo wouldnt be in action til approx 4400rpm +

which kinda sucked

it was like ... lag lag lag lag BANG!

depends what your after really

-Ruffels

well I am planning the basics like:

- Turbo back exhaust with hi-flow cat

- FMIC

- Fuel pump

my situation is that my turbo is on its very last legs and sqeeling like a pig. I need a new turbo but I dont want a normal RB20 one but im also on a budget.

if it is a garrett t04e then pending price it may be a good deal.

is it interal gate? or external gate?

as stated above if the car is stock putting a turbo of that size on ur car is extremmely pointless, thou if you buy the turbo and then buy all the supporting mods it would be ok

to run the turbo you would need a bare min of

:intercooler (larger than stock size - FMIC)

:turbo back exhuast (3 1/2inch or bigger)

:Aftermarket ecu (pfc etc)

:Larger injectors (size depending on final power goal)

:Larger AFM (z32)

:Air-filter

:larger fuel pump

now that is just the engine side, of course you would need to upgrade ur clutch, suspension, tyre size etc etc

cheers michael :(

even at $400 it is pointless and will just be extra laggy for no gain.

you only have a budget to suit 250hp so whats the point of using a 500hp turbocharger. get a second hand rb25 turbocharger for $400 and it will be heaps better and more usable. youll have more average power too, making the car faster overall. i would also recommend a remap

how much roughly is a remap, injectors (probably used) and a AFM (used too)?

thanks paulr33....I see wat your saying. The turbo is actually $350....but i see overal wat you are saying.

Anyone selling a R33 turbo in good nick for $350?

check the for sale section, there is usually 1 or 2 2nd hand rb25 turbochargers for sale. you wont need injectors + airflow meter for 250hp which is a realistic budget based on your budget. a remap will cost you around the $400 mark. the car should drive significantly better with an rb25 turbo, boost controller and remap

Thats a KKR480... well it looks like one and has the same specs from me reading it :P

How on earth, without a link to the ebay item, and from the posts in this thread...

Have you come to think its a KKR turbo we are talking about here?

I dont get it.

Anyway, a 500hp turbo on RB20, as stated pointless.

Especially if you dont plan on injectors, ECU etc etc

Your best bet is an RB25 turbo, or then upgrading to a HKS 2510 or similar.

In short, stay away from ebay. Its more hassle than gain in many case

i have a similar question, i have an RB20, with full 3inch turbo back exhaust, FMIC, Fuel pump, ECU running on MAP sensor (no AFM).

i have been offered a stainless steel mainfold and brand new ( he has receipt) T04E/T3 with .67 AR.

how would this go on my motor? or should i just grab the mainfold and get a RB25 turbo too?

well that depends on what mods you have, when you expect boost to come on and if you care about reliability or not

there are several warnings, over and over about cheap ebay turbo's.

if you choose to ignore them and still thing its good cos its cheap go for it. but you've certainly been warned

    • Hi everyone, I'm generally new to DIY projects, and I've browsed this forum and watched a lot of youtube videos but still have a few questions   Firstly, how does spray painting interior hold up? in particular like vinyl parts, my current mode of thinking is to use methyl spirits to take off original paint, clean/prep well, light coats, no primer or clear coat    Secondly, what is recommended for the headliner and, for example (my car is a r34), the A-pillars which are some kind of other fabric material, do you think I would be successful at retrimming these? or would it be better to go down the blacking out via Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Paint    Any other advice / tips / tricks for refreshing/modernising these interiors?    Thanks

    • Just note that when trying to find a short in a globe power supply, it is best to disconnect the globe as it will allow current through to earth. With it unplugged it is easier not to get confused. Also with the r32 wiring, the high beam has 2 power supplies (one when you push the switch forward and the other when you temporarily pull it back; so if it is the high beam blowing you will need to trace both circuits

    • That's a short. Find the short. It will be somewhere between that fuse and the headlight. Start by removing the plugs from the back of the headlight and dimmer switches, and measure resistance to earth. Supply side (power from the fuse) should have none. The other side should have resistance compatible with whatever globe(s) is there (which is relatively easy to say for a normal globe, perhaps not as easy to say for LEDs). Anyway, if you have very low resistance, you defo have a short. Then you just have to run the wiring like you're running the bowel of a dog (on the operating table) that has swallowed something it wasn't supposed to.
