19s would be OK for a 34, in most cases look good too. BUT, be prepared to sacrifice a bit of ride confort as they will be riding on very low profile tyres to keep the rolling diameter the same as stock. Also, if you are thinkin of goin 19s, should definately lower it a tad as well otherwise it would prob look like a 4wd. Again, lowering your ride would probably cause you to lose a bit of comfort but you gain on handling. 18s would probably be the optimum size most ppl go for nowadays + tyres are cheaper too. I've seen 34s with 20s as well if all you want is bling and do not care for ride quality.

im worried if there will be any law or something the cops will say to defect me.

wat can i watch out for while buying rims and gettin them installed?

I'm not sure what the regulations would be in VIC but in NSW i know that for any owner certified modification (which you dont need any engineer's certificate), you cannot get wheels which are 1inch wider than you stock wheels, which in this case is 7.5.

As for rim diameter, I asked a highway patrol this question and he replied saying that it doesn't matter how big the tyres are, as long as the rolling distance does not exceed 15mm (or was it 15cm?) from the stock tyres. To show this wet the rolling surface of the stock tyre and the tyre you will be using with the 19's and roll them on dry ground for one revolution. If the distance of the other tyre is longer than 15mm (or 15cm? can someone confirm on this) then its illegal and you may need to get it engineered. But to be totally sure the best thing to do is consult the ADR.

It's good to know though that 19x9 at the front and 19x10 at the back will fit as i am planning to get 19x8.5 at the front and 19.9.5 at the back.

turns out 19s are to big.....they seem to go to close to the brakes....they told me i either need to trim down the brakes or add some space or something (forgot the details) which is illegal...so i just settled for 18".....saved me 800 bux

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
