hey guys,

i need a little help with a few problems with my r33.

the problems are:

Stalls when i ease off the accelerater.

Idle goes up and down.

A knocking coming from the rear of the engine.

and when i am boosting the whole car feels like its shuttering. ( when i hit 4500rpm)

Could this be the air flow sensor? or maybe some thing else?

i am taking it to a auto electrician tomorrow but just wanted to get the opinion from some of you guys.

thanks heaps :O

Id spend the $130-$150 on a full service and tune if you havent already done so. I found a few little issues like lagging and for air flow solved with a good service and a decent air filter (im using one called "uni filter"), costa about $80, running beautifully now, very smooth.

Hope this is an option for your ride, all the best.

Regards Evan

Dude, what fuel are you using? Ive recently started to use a 10% ethanol blend of fuel and have since (second tank full) had stalling issues. Im going to start using Shell or caltex only high octane fuel. I still had about 3/4 of a tank of 10% ethanol fuel in the tank and i filled up with 98 octane and it looks, so far, to have fixed the prob.

Kind reagrds Evan

EMZ R33 .... it is my (and many other forum members) opinion that both Shell and Caltex so-called Premium fuels are shite, and neither guarantee a 98 ron rating necessary for our engines to survive a decent lifespan.

I ONLY use Mobil 8000, or BP Ultimate .... other fuels that you have mentioned have given me detonation and other problems.

Also, as far as I know the 10% ethanol fuels are not suitable for RB25 unless they are specifically tuned for it (hence why you have had problems).

Check that you don't have any air leaks too make, if your engine is sucking in air that isn't going through the afm it'll be running lean as hell & will cause your hunting with the revs too.

I've got a problem with mine leaking on the vacuum line to the boost gauge sensor. I fixed it once but the hose I got wasn't good enough. Need to get some fibre reinforced hose the right size. Bloody hard to find.

I May need to try Nissan themselves, I know local delivered 200SX's use the right stuff.
