hehehe ^^ not sure what that has to do with it??

He's asking how to turn his spot lights on and your providing info for you Hicas light coming on - amusing..

Anyways for a S2 - try the right stalk..

As for a SI - as sewid said.. don't believe there is any..

S1 had a driving light option.

The ones on the bottom are the factory option driving lights.

The switch is just on the inside of the headlight switch if your car is fitted with them ;)

how do you mean " inside of the headlight switch"?? any diagram would be helpful.

Pretty sure this was an option on early r33 gts-t. I've seen this on a couple of cars.

The switch is located down near the gear shift sorround. Where those little coin slot things are.

The cops can fine you for using them when its not foggy or raining about $90 i think.

yep, there was a set of thse for sale in the for sale section a while back.

Its like the one on the wiper stalk to activate the rear wiper, but on the indicator if that helps?

Yes the sets are the same size, yes you could swap them over but you will need all the wiring to go with it.

The switch is on the indicator stalk. Quite simple really. My car has them and is a series one. There is also a relay in the engine box. It is under the fuse box cover. Any thing else?

cheers Atreyu!!

i was gonna wire up a switch by the coin holders near the handbrake.

yeah a couple more questions:

- does the car beep when you leave you factory fog lights on after you turn off the car?

- and does the dash light up as well?

e.g. does the car behave like you have you normal beam on?

I find the fog lights on my SII very useful especially when driving at night, they give me a brighter short distance view not to mention she looks awfully sexy when cruising with the fog n park lights on :) turns many heads hehe...

and to verify, YES it is illigal to have them on in normal driving conditions... (NSW)

Cheers

yep, they are illegal here in NZ too.

although theres alot of cars with 4 lights driving around; 2 normal beam and 2 more lower down in the bumper like the r33. what would those be? ppl driving illegally or are those lower ones also dipped?

how hard is it to wire the new switch to the buzzer that warns you that you left the lights on?

i dont want to leave them on and drain the battery

    • Aren't these run off of high voltage in OEM applications? Like 200+V. Or at least 48V in mild hybrids. At ~18,000 BTU ballpark nominal capacity the power draw is at what, 2.2 kW? ~185A is a pretty crazy amount of amps. At 200V it's only 11A. The 70A nominal kits with up to 100A peak draw I see for stuff like classic Porsches have pretty substantial compromises like shutting off at idle and not actually managing to keep the interior cool in hot conditions because they can only output like 6000 BTU. IMO if I had to pick what high amp draw component to retrofit to these cars I would start with the engine fan, not the AC compressor. You need an ~850-1000W brushless fan, something like this: I would love to see the data but I would bet that whatever you save by running the AC compressor in a more efficient regime with an electric motor you're probably losing to conversion losses anyways. It's not really like a clutch fan where you're losing power all the time even when it's nominally disengaged and it gets worse as it engages because the envelope tracking isn't that precise.

    • I'm wondering is the Toyota and Mazda "collaboration" could see that new Toyota ???G20 ??? turbo engine that they have been showing off recently into a future MX5, apparently it's good for 400hp out of the box That could easily, possibly, be much better than the last collaboration between Toyota and Subaru with the boxer engine in the twins
