Matt from Daalder rang me the other day about where i got the dump; was that for you, McCracken?

Nah, I did enquire about them a week ago, but haven't ordered anything as yet. Back to re-assessing the options. One funny thing I found the Dandenong operation (Daadler) has no idea of what I was talking about re the Skyline pipes - which is a pity because they are much closer to me.

BATMBL can get some combo pipes and cats pretty cheap (see the for sale thread), so there's another option there now. I'm guessing if I went this option any local exhaust shop could fit it for me easily enough? (I don't want to try with the ramps!).

Does anyone know if need a new cat as well when I get the front pipe (due to the different flange size)? or is it simple to modify my existing cat?

Cheers,

David.

OK....

I've bought one of BATMBL's 3" CAT's and i beleve its on its way now through Aust Post.....

The Dump + Front Pipe is mandrel bent + mild steel all for approx $180 (though now i think of it I think I'm sure I was quoted $160)...

I'm getting it made by some exhaust place in Airport West - Professional Exhaust (i think) so I don't have any photos...

I work mate has been to this place before and he highly recommends them.....

I plan to goto this place in 2 weeks to get the exhaust made up/fitted so maybe we could both go together and maybe get a discount??

Yeah, BATMBL does have some good prices on the cats. For the price, I'll think I'll go one.

Why didn't you take him up on his combo dump+front pipes? $160-80 sounds very cheap (perhaps too cheap?), Nizpro wanted $385 to make a custom stainless front pipe. A laser cut alone is aparantley $50-60, and imagine how ;) you'd be if it rattled or bumped, etc.

Depending on how others go with there purchases from BATMBL (where are those pictures? :P ), I think one of his combo pipes and a cat sounds like my best option. Airport West is quite far for me, although if u do go ahead with it would be keen to hear your results.

FYI SydneyKid recommends to go stainless in these pipes as mild steel would wear too quickly.

just got my pipe adjusted today........sweet ass.....by the way it was 160 for coated something or nother with some coating to prevent rust......not mild steel i dont think. got it done at an exhaust place off westall rd next to honda wrecks....top bloke too.

Yeah,,,this is the place that is doing mine - Performance Exhausts - Webb Rd Airport West.......

(B1) Mr_Fanny - Did they make up the Dump+Front pipe for you??? If so..what are your impressions so far???

McCracken, I think stainless is good for the dump as it has better high temp resistance, but they can crack. I can't remember what grade doesn't crack... inasnt, wanna help us out on this one?

Just a note also, bear in mind that cost is one thing; i would much rather spend the extra 20/30/40 bucks if it guarantees that the flanges are flat, it doesn't touch the body, doesn't rattle etc etc. That is mainly the reason i got a jap exhaust. This is not to say the local product is no good, just look at inasnt's exhaust - custom made and fine.

it was just the front pipe......i think he quoted me 230 or something like that for the combination front/dump in same material and like 280 for stainless. honestly those quotes are from memory (which is prettty bad) so dont quote me on it....hehe....but they were good prices though.

impressions.....looks good....fits nice....no noticable change in exhaust note surprisingly just a tad more grunty. alot more smoother/easier acceleration from stand still and down gearing. havent had a chance to fang it to see the difference in mid/top range, holdin off for cooler weather to do that.

i was goin to get the combo pipe but figured id have to get it modified if and when i put a bigger turbo in so i figured id keep the dump and front pipe separate and change the dump when the time comes.

note that i still have my standart cat so im expecting better things to come when i get the hi flow cat.

Guest INASNT

get stainless steel 304, it wont crack easily. 314 or high will crack under extreme heat. 314 is marine grade steel.

If they r selling cheap stuff check it isent 301 stainless that stuff shit as and is a mix of stainless and some other cheap materials

"wats urs like slayer??"

Havn't got anything yet...the CAT is on its way and as soon as it arrives I'll make a booking with Performance Exhausts...

Might go for the Stainless steel pipes now rather than mild steel................

    • Just wanted to pop in an update on my setup. The CD swap has been great, I love the mazworks housing for the overall simplicity. I ended up sealing my trans tunnel with a thin sheet of aluminum reused some of the holes on the trans tunnel, and laid some window sealing EPS foam around the edges. Works great, really quieted things down and sealed up the car.  As for the power comment. Right now I am also running about 650whp. with the way the bell housing is attached to the face of the transmission I have zero doubts it would be fine, mainly because the input shaft and main shaft bearings are seated into the bell housing adapter. This means the load is NOT on the bolts to maintain the power, rather into he casing of the bell housing; Yes the bolts are doing some work there, but with both shafts locked in zero worries.  End of the day, the Mazworks solution is the easiest and safest. no need to take your trans to a shop to get milled perfectly, it fits with minimal clearancing, and you can use all your existing clutch and flywheel.  Driving wise the CD has been great compared to the big box, I'll probably swap my final drive at some point. The serial 9 shifter is gooooood, my only qualm is how tight it is, it takes a fair bit to get use to, 5th and 6th are a bit eh/hard to find at times, but maybe I need re-adjusting, and I think my clutch master is very tired and needs a rebuild.
    • If you are keen, have a look at my build thread. Car is for sale for the right money or straight swap for a F80 M3 LCI.
    • Welcome mate.  No point in over thinking it, buying any one of those cars you mentioned is not a smart or logical choice with the availability of many "better" (re price to performance) cars available to you.  The heart wants what the heart wants, buy whatever it leads you too.
    • Hey everyone! Im so grateful to be apart of this community and ill do my best to be apart of this. Firstly, i'm not disclosing my real name due to in real life circumstances surrounding my privacy and public image (sorry lol) Secondly, The only thing personal I am willing to share is that I'm from Sydney and a descendant of one of Sydneys largest mortgage firms. I got gifted my first ever car, a 2022 Porsche Cayenne and I love it to death. Ive been driving it for about 5 or 6 months now and honestly Im so grateful for my parents for gifting me this vehicle. However recently I've been working my ass off to afford my second car (which I need help deciding soooooo community help me out please?). Once decided, im planning to try modify it myself. Recent I've been thinking about getting a Skyline, particularly a 25GT or GT-V, yes I know overrated as hell, but I'm also considering a Chaser which I recently came to love. However my dream is to one day own a 180SX (So hard to find clean versions and im not really into importing).  Lastly before I send this off, I want to apologize if I sound tacky or pretentious. I try not to and want to genuinely learn from everyone and anyone. (Im no expert in this area) Thanks for reading!
