hi guys, i got one of those little pre-made 10'' sub boxes in the boot of my r33. just wondering how to fix it down to stop it sliding around. i need something so i can easily pull it out to access my spare tire compartment to empty weight etc

how have other ppl done it?

I am sure the other members are gonna bag me for this, but the two easiest ways i have found are

- ockey straps, those stretchy straps used to tie down things. just mount the end using rubber insert p clamps, Repco should be able to supply all you need. Just mount the p clamps, then stretch the ockey strap from one clamp to another over the sub box.

- velcro strips on the underside of the sub box, the velco will go on to the carpet of the boof, so long as the carpet does not slide around - ie you may have to glue the carpet to the timber spare wheel cover, the box wont move around much.

Just remember not to leave bare wires in the boot when you do remove the sub box

Bare wire are bad mmmkay...

yeah prob go the ocy strap...... prob look shit but dont really care, im after a box which is easily removed plus its not a show car so dont need a custom built in box and bla bla bla

i think the velcro approch would be ok but my only concren would be sticking the backing down i.e. would have to expose the wood under the carpet or the sub box so the adhisive backing would stick to something??

cheers dude

actually look up ROC strap. I keep these on hand usually and they are great to secure a box of that size down. about $16.

velcro works to a point for light boxes but not yours. you will end up with a big dent on one side if you turn a corner quickly as it will come unstuck.
