Are Skylines Heavy On Petrol Compared To Most Cars?

Recommended Posts

eyy guys i was just woundering how heavy skylines are on petrol??? are they heavy compared to most other cars? does anyone use their skyline as a daily driven car or is it to heavy on petrol?

Um, you should know? Apparently you own one.. A lot of people use their skyline as a daily driver. Petrol consumption depends on your driving style and how modified your car is, as well as how it is tuned etc. Calculate your cars fuel consumption then search on the internet for other cars fuel consumption rates (integra in your case) and compare them. Obviously the lighter, smaller naturally aspirated engine honda will be better on fuel than the heavier 6cyl turbocharged skyline.

im 18 and own a r33 gtst and love it!! however im 8000 dollars in debt and obviously with the ever so quickley increasing petrol prices im considereing getting a integra vtir! is that a good move? it still has power but is lighter on petrol!
hey guys....im looking at getting my first car and dont know whether to get a skyline gtst r33 or a honda integra vtir! can someone give me a non bias opinion and which is better on petrol? thanks guys

How can you be looking at getting your first car if you already own a R33 GTS-T? (unless you purchased one today between 12:12am and 12:25am) Sorry I'm just a bit confused.. :thanks:

once you buy into turbo cars you have no right to bitch about petrol consumption.

only about the shit prices these days.. makes me want to jack a petrol tanker and hide it in my garage.

My r32 gtst does about 440km per tank which at the moment costs me about $60 to fill in Vic these days.

The only mods it has is a pod filter and a catback. They are reasonable on petrol, probably about the same as my old stock R31.

yeh agree with most of the other guys here petrol depends on how modified ur car is n how u drive it...i get about 380 to a fulltank but mines modified... and interms of driving style if ur gonna thrash such a great car every single day a) ur an ass and b) ur gonna go through petrol quicka

cheers

Depends how you drive it... I've been in a r33 gts-t that gets 320ish when giving it a bit of stick every now and again.... But would probably do high 300's if you drove it normal all the time. It was stock (bar exhaust).

That same car, giving it stick the majority of the tank, only lasted 210kms.. (no joke either). We didn't mind though, as we were out to waste all the petrol in it that night:D

I think we need to create 3 new stickys!!!

1) R32 Fuel Consumption

2) R33 Fuel Consumption

3) R34 Fuel Consumption

As well as maybe Stagea Fuel Consumption etc. in their relevant areas if it is deedmed necessary.

In each, every SAU member can post their average consumption (l/100km), range (km) and average cost to fill ($) at given price of petrol ($), as well as their model (GTS, GTST, GTR etc.), transmission (auto/manual) and power output (stock, 200rwhp, 300rwhp, 400rwhp etc).

MODEL

TRANSMISSION

POWER (rwhp)

RANGE (km)

CONSUMPTION (l/100km)

COST TO FILL ($@$)

There are too many threads being started asking the same question!

But as far as consumption goes, as a comparison I use about 2-3L/100km less fuel than my Dad's BF Ford Fairmont Ghia (6 spd auto) in my R32 GTS-T (manual, stock). I get about 10.5 to 12 litres/100km in normal driving vs. about 13-14 litres per 100km for the Falcon.

magpie, why do you want to know if skylines are heavy on fuel when you dont have one? WTF? Instead of wondering about:

-bodykits (youve asked it a shitload of times!)

-Honda Integra or a Skyline (Which one you got? LOL)

You should:

-finish your school homework. Education is the way of the future!

-Buy a car (not a Skyline, because you've already made yourself look stupid -

-finish your school homework

I get between 300 to 400km per tank in a r33gtst, modified.

Petrol has gone up, but it's not that much. think about those poor pommy bastards that are paying the same amount of pence per litre that we pay cents. Now that's harsh. That $120 to fill the skyline!!

:)

At the end of the day, It's only ten bucks more per tank. IMO not worth giving up the performance car, not yet anyway. Buy yourself a skyline son, or keep it, or whatever.

My R33 gts-t s2 is my daily driver, I get between 250-350km per tank depending on how im driving. On that note 350kms out of a tank is the most i've ever gotten and that was on the highway so obviously I have a problem lol, Last fill up cost me like $82 in newcastle BP ultimate. Mods are: 3.5" inch cat back exhaust, hi flow panel filter, FMIC, stock boost.

I got 2 cars - a 1982 civic (for taking to the train station when i go to uni) - does about 400 per tank (40ltr tank). The skyline - takes a bit more petrol - about 7-8 klms per ltr (roughly 420klms per tank). But then again thats what you get for getting a performance car. Full tank of ultimate costs me about $60. Usually drive it in moderation - turbo hardly used - except after a long day studying :P.

If you are worried about petrol - get a vtec yo!!!!

I couldn't agree more. I hate trying to decipher "I get XXX/tank" because it's so vauge. How big is the tank on this model skyline/stagea/whatever? Did you wait until your tank was completely empty???

I usually get between 10.5 and 12 litres/100k's too, on a stock manual 32gtst. My Dad's SV6 6speed makes between 12-14kms/100k's

haha go VtEc!@!@!@!

I would have to agree with Security, you dont buy into a Turbocharged car and complain about prices of petrol. Also i agree to the point of Hijacking - FAST AND FURIOUS STYLE - a petrol tanker. We could hide it at your house! hahha

I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.

Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
