A stock NSX might be quicker than a stock GTR around a track, but I reckon a stock GTR N1 or GTR NUR would swing that back the other way. I reckon the N1 might even pip the NSX-R around a track! But this is all opinion at the moment... (Remember Wheels magazine ran a 12.6 quarter mile from an N1 GTR, and Wheels typically run concervative times compared to some international magazines).

And I reckon the Z-tune and 400R etc. are NISMO special models, and a bit unfair to consider them a regular Nissan...

2L 4cly 'vs' 3.5L V6...? The S2000 is still the better car. What that s2000 engine does stock is nothing short of amazing. If I had $80k floating about, Id be going the S2000 over almost any other car in that price range any day.

They're still in the same price bracket.

And what the engine "does" isn't that amazing. It uses revs to make power, at the expense of torque in the low to midrange. Bike engines do that all the time, and its not like Honda doesn't have experiencing making them. And the engine does wear out a lot faster due to owners having to rev the tits off them to go anywhere.

And, for all their trumpeting, the F20C doesn't have the highest specific power output of any NA production car engine in the world. That honour belongs to Nissan, with the SR16VE.

Handling-wise, the S2000 is a lot more nimble due to its shorter wheelbase and less weight, but then the back end is also a bit hair trigger. How many people (both private owners and car reviewers) have gone off the road and crashed arse-first into the scenery?

Its also a lot less practical than the 350Z, since not only does it have no boot space and only 2 seats but its also got a cramped interior.

If I had $72K (RRP for the S2000), I'd try and stretch to a decent 3.2L NSX if I could go second hand. If I didn't mind the impracticality and cramped interior, but wanted something nimble and fun to drive, I'd buy a Lotus Elise. If I needed a roof and some comfort, I'd buy a Nissan 350Z Track.

FYI, some specific outputs from some JDM engines -

Nissan SR16VE has 175ps, or 109ps/l

Honda K20A is 220ps from a 2.0, or 110ps/l

Honda B18C-R is 200ps from a 1.8, or 111ps/l

Honda B16B is 185ps from a 1.6, or 116ps/l

Nissan SR16VE-N1 has 200ps from a 1.6, or 125ps/l

Honda F20C has 250ps from a 2.0, or 125ps/l

The N1 limited edition motor should be honoured to make the same ps/l the highest output/l of a mass production motor :woot:

Erm no contest really. The only thing the VTIR would beat the GTS-T in would be fuel economy. :ermm:

I've been in a VTIR and no, it does not go anywhere near as hard as a GTS-T

no. the VTir would beat the gts-t in handling but then again, they are different sort of cars.

Once's the lil' brother of a legendary japanese muscle car whilst another is the new generation of economical and good handling sort

The Vtir's are a very quick car. As it has been said before, they aren't the best car for drag racing. send them into some twisties or onto a track and they will really shine. being a fwd, point the steering wheel to where you want it to go and it'll go there. where as the 33 skyline is a considerably heavier car and rwd so obviously a lot more toe happy. but the 33 has a lot more power and straight line speed. a integra would most of the time come out of a corner first as having a better weight balance and no lag due to the torquey nature of the vtec engine. a type r would obviously be true to this, but the vtir hasn't got the same kind of power.

Hope that gives you some idea.

well put it this way too. The Vtir has the potential of taking in the B18c7 engine which is the integra dc2 type r's.

having said that you can throw in a rb26dett into ur gts-t but then again, a lot of trouble and parts must follow
