dont buy it.

there is no category for that kart.

its a four stroke but the racing ones run two of those motors not one.

i.e. it will be mega slow.

ok, anyone know a good place to buy a suitible go kart for racing that is around the same price as that one for 15 year old ?

I'd stay away from that kart. tho it does have a clutch i am sure there is better ones you can find, (the chassis looks cheap)

what you want to try get. is a kart with a yamaha kt100s with a clutch kit attached. strike sss or similar tho you will pay more but so much quicker than that pullstart one you listed

it surely is worth just racing for fun.. i go out with a few friends who also have karts and run a muck for hours and hours. or untill something breaks haha

what do you want to spend?

lol, well i'm not sure i guess it's up to my parents -_-.......just quick questions... do u know if the picton track has races there ?... is it really expensive and since u have raced u know what it's like... is it realy hard to win and stuff ?...like to get recognised

hire karts will cost you $40 for 15mins or $70 for half hour. $35 for day with your own kart if you are a memeber of the track. Second hand rotax will cost you between 3 & 4k, then suit , boots, gloves rib protector, helmet, tools, jerry kans, trailer, spares etc. 8k. i have raced for two seasons. tyres are $250 a set and to be competative you have to replace them after every 2 meetings. $35 for 10litres of fuel plus $25 for oil, which will do 40litres, chain lube etc etc. it gets expensive, unless you are just going out socially on practice days as thats cool, otherwise there is always some over-ambitious idiot trying to make a idiotic pass that ends up costing you $100s to repair.

but it is awesome fun......

you can find alot of karts on ebay for under 3000. which seem pretty good.

the local karting track should only cost you 20 or so bucks fro a day or so. or maybe only a yearly membership??

and you supply the rest. fuel etc etc.

i beleive thats how it goes in sydney at picton track.

Yeah i've just been going out for fun really. tho i waxs tempted to go out for their weekly races. and the lap times i was doing in my yamaha clubman S motor were pretty competetive

as i said, i've probably spent about 2k so far. been out atleast 10-20 times have many sore ribs, and ready to get out again soon! it is cheap in a way tho soon i need to either buy a new motor, or get a clutch kit for my clubman

there will be many people out there that are alot quicker than you and it will take plenty of practice to get good.

will they acturally not let u on the track at picton without a clutch ?... and if i bought a kart without one is it hard and/or expensive to add a clutch to the kart

not worth the hassle when you can buy them with clutches already on them and setup working.

Price comes into it tho, around 600 to make a clubman motor use a clutch,

and you can get a clubman for around 1000-1500 for something fairly decent, arrow crg tony kart etc etc.

around 3000 for a new lepoard motor, similar price is rotax.

so its cheaper to go yamaha motor for someone who is just starting out too. it will be quick enough. make sure you get a kt100s (square head) and not a j (round head)

Hey guys, just wanted to bring this back to the top.

Im 88kg,6ft and 20 yr's old. Looking to do some karting next year. I will have about $3k to spend to get me from having nothing (have tools) to on the track.

Any suggestions as too who to talk to would be great. Ill be buying a cart around december/Jan. not looking to be competitive just want to get out and have fun.

Any idea what class I should be looking at? or where to get a 2nd hand kart?

my mate has 6 go karts and he got them all off ebay. A lisence at butterfly farm cost me $40 for a 2 & 4 stroke kart and everytime i go out with my mate it will cost me another $30 for the whole day/night. Im looking at possibly getting a go kart my self but only time will tell.

i'll have a ready to race rotax restricted kart for sale at the end of the month if anyone cares.....

i'll even put a new nose cone on it.....it melted when i was giving someone in front of me a love tap (on their exhaust).

I've had a win...a second and a third so it's a competitive setup.

pm me if you're keen.

i'm only 83kg....i just look like a unit cause i had a rain jacket on that day. but i do have a large seat that i can swap in.

yeah...elec start...low stall clutch (i think that's what they call it).....so you just put your foot down and it will engage pretty quickly. it's been good fun...but i'm upgrading.

i've got ax6 silver 40th anniversary with very quick kt100s, but i am lookin at either selling and getting something with a leopard motor in it. or just buying a leopard motor kit
