i remember on my r32 i cleaned it out once, but it was not part of the rail...on the r33 i am not sure. installing one though, just remove the old one and put in the new, if it is electronic then i wouldnt try it, i would be replacing all the efi full line while i did it too, to make sure that nothing happens. as for placement, dont make it too far away, prob on the firewall. to tune it you will need a dyno prob, or trial and error. The original fuel reg is located inbetween the plenum and the tapper cover i think.

you need to know what pressure to run the adj fpr.

that means find out what pressure d stocko runs.From there u might want to run the adj item at the same if it hasnt been causeing probs.then run it down to your tuner.it will help to have a fuel pressure gauge to read pressure.

does any 1 know how much of an adverse affect bumping up the rail pressure will have to afr's?

With the Nismo, undo two bolts, undo the hose.. fit the new one in it's place, tighten. Done!

The base rate needs to be set however, and mine was 10psi off. I took it easy for a week though.

I doubt the lines will burst if you up the fuel pressure, as long as they're not really really old.

if you dont get a reg that bolts into the end of the rail like a malpassi, sard, etc. u will need to make up an adaptor to replace the old reg: like in this pic of mine post-24129-1147594191.jpg

then if u have a malpassi (like mine) u run the the fuel line fom the adaptor into the side of the reg. then the line goes from the bottom of the reg back to the fuel tank. post-24129-1147594379.jpg

the fuel line that does not have the fuel filter on it is the return line to the tank.

standard fuel pressure is 38psi on idle..

hope thats what u were after.

hey guys, installed a sard FPR myself on the weekend but havnt been able to find anywhere with a cheapy fuel pressure gauge that i can tap into the fuel line with, adjust the FPR to 38psi, and be happy :\.

Anyone know where i can get a gauge??? I dont want a wanky in-car gauge or anthing, just something that can sit in the engine bay somewhere.

look in the first pick i put up.. i got a dodgy second hand reg from a wreckers for like $20 and cut the top of it off then welded a small pipe on the top of the plate to connect the fuel line too...

if you keep the stadard fuel reg on it will hold the same pressure and all the aftermaket reg will do is raise the pressure in the fuel line back to the standard reg... so it makes it pointless....

my malpassi didnt come with a guage either so i just bought a $25 one from auto barn which screws straight into the side of the reg.

do you need one on stock injectors?

I am about to install R32 GTR injectors on my R32 and I have the GTR fuel rail and regulator (not sure if it is different than the stock RB20 regulator but I guess so)...

Ahh no it doesn't. If the second reg has more base pressure than the first reg it will force the diaphram up a little so that the total rail pressure is equal to the higher pressure regulator. So if you leave you standard FPR on which has a base pressure of about 38 psi with no vacumm and you put you shitty malpassi on after the standard FPR and raise the pressure to 50psi the total rail pressure is 50 psi. The trick is to leave the standard reg on as it has a metal diaphram and does a good job of controlling pressure unlike the malpassi. THe standard reg will also maintain rail pressure after the car has stopped whereas the malpassi will bleed off.

    • I've owned a few scooters over the years, a Vespa PX oil burner was my first scooter, followed by a few others, including a little 50cc BeeWee that I used as a barracks bike, and I've had a blast on all of them, they really are the cheapest for of city/suburb transport around The only issue with scooters in Australia is lots of people look down on them due to their size,  maybe they need a big bike to make up for something else where they are lacking, unlike Europe and Asia where every man an their dog owns one, and now that filtering is legal in NSW, local traffic is never a issue Not to say I haven't owned my share of big cc bikes over the years, but they were for more blasting through the hills or Hwy riding where it needed to sit on Hwy speeds Safety wise, I ride like everyone is always trying to kill me, everyone is running a red, or running stop/give way signs, or generally asleep at the wheel, which most people are duringtheir commute, I also ride really safe, and give myself, and everyone else enough room in case I need to pull some hasty evasive actions, I've done a few rider training days over the years, which has come in handy on more than a few occasions  As for mods, there's nothing really, and yes your right about aftermarket exhaust, all you get is loud and obnoxious noises from them, like every 250-300 cc you hear with a aftermarket muffler, in saying this I did put a rear muffler from a 125 Aprilla on one of my old 125 scooters, it was horrendous and no amount of full face helmet and ear plugs would dampen that noise As for coming from the Harley, and what a overpriced POS that was, I no longer do big rides as my poor old busted joints ache after about 1/2 an hour of riding, long cruises are so much more enjoyable now in a car, so a big bike would be pointless   
    • Oh wow, it's easy to forget how cheap these can be. Probably the cheapest way to travel. Though people in cars here tend to be morons and I would not feel very safe. Were scooters ever big in Australia? It used to be the thing growing up in Europe ~20 years ago. 50/70/125ccm Peugeot or Yamaha and some others. Utterly obnoxious Polini race exhausts. Kick stands that slant as much as possible. So loud. So much noise for really not moving very fast at all. But it felt cool at the time. Not sure where I'm going with this, but there is an aftermarket for mopeds! Though I'd have pictured you more for a Goldwing kind of guy after growing out of the Harley.

    • As the MX5 isn't apparently "manly" enough, and I need something for runs to the local shops, and also take to my part time job at the salon, basically I can keep the MX5 away from car parks and stuff......like "flying lockers", I was wondering what I could buy to fix this issue LOL, I pick up a new Yamaha 125 Delight this arvo from Trooper Lu, basically a R1 that you can fit a slab of beer on between your feet, also, it was $29400 cheaper than a R1, so actually it's 2 x better than a R1
