bogeye
Hey, im 15 years old. I live in nsw. The new p plate laws killed my self esteam with car enthusiasm. Can a non turbo r33 93,94 model skyline could be made to go fast without turbo and if so any good pointers on how? I no im a bit young but its not that far off my L's. I always have been told skylines are useless without turbo's but it really want to make that not true. smasha
no probs mate. Have fun, and just a pointer regarding this forum : you'll have more luck when asking about advice if you've searched through the forum first. A lot of stuff folks new to skylines ask has already been explained many times over, and the folks who do the explaining, get over typing the same stuff over and over again. All the info is in here, just waiting to be found. bogeye
yeah true after looking threw the link u gave me to anouther part of the site. But there isnt a clear list of things to do and their price range. If any one can be bothered to retype a list of suggestions and their price range that would be great. smasha
Not a lot u can do with an N/A 'line unless u're either a mechanic or have deep pockets. a lot of stuff is quite labour intensive. The search makes the find more valuable.... research it through the forums. Sounds like you have some time till you're able to drive one. I recommend you use that time to research what to get done/where to get it done/how much it'll cost/potential issues etc... However, generally speaking, an N/A R33 (94 and 95, so that makes them series 1 R33) will not be nearly as quick as a turbo version. If you do end up getting one, i suggest spending money that you would have spent on mods, taking advanced driving lessons to learn how to drive a FR car so you don't wipe out the first time it rains and kill yourself/your mates. No offense intended if any was experienced, I just know I was a P-plater once as well, and learnt a few lessons the hard way Cheers, Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/117780-p-plates-non-turbo-skyline/#findComment-2165623 Share on other sites

bogeye
If i got a non turbo skyline r33 and later on when i got my full license put a turbo in it would it around the same speed as the other turbo'd skylines? smasha
you could definitely do that, or do an engine swap for ~$5K but I think you'll find that nearly no 2 skylines are as fast as each other.. Hardly any stock ones left. You'd be better off buying a cheap car, learning to drive on it, save some money and then when u'r off your P's you'd have saved enough for a really nice R33 Gtst, R32 GTR or even an R34 Gtt. Might end up cheaper in the end Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/117780-p-plates-non-turbo-skyline/#findComment-2165657 Share on other sites

julion
You can do alot to a car besides turbo surely. i went threw there suggestions on what to do and they only said about 5 things. Wouldnt there be like transmission, gear box, engine bay, port polish e.t.c im just learning of grand tourismo lol. i might be mistaken Im kinda in the same boat as you, only 2 yrs down the track.. I'm on my P's and recently bought a non turbo r32 RB25DE- rarer bigger engine. If its turbo like power your looking for in non turbo skyline, give up. However, I find that my car has easily enough power for a new and still learning driver. You might think your fully sick - as i did when i first got my P's, but i rekon you should work your way up to the turbo. After driving my mums astra for a yr on my Ls, driving my 32 felt like driving a - well - a really fast car. Engine swaps and adding turbos and stuff isnt a good idea. once your on your full license, sell your car to some other kid who's restricted to non-turbos and buy a turbo. In the mean time, some simple mods which will slightly increase power are exhaust and air filters. A heavy duty clutch is also a good idea. Good luck with your driving, maybe ill sell u my 32 when you get your P's Edited May 21, 2006 by julion Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/117780-p-plates-non-turbo-skyline/#findComment-2187260 Share on other sites

julion
yyou got some pics julion? Asif you don't prefer the N/A 33 over yours. more power! Id definately prefer an N/A 33 but workin 2 shifts a week at kfc for the last 2.5 yrs, I could only afford a 32.. Heres a pic taken a week or so ago. when i bought the car it had a gtr spoiler on it.. I thought it was a bit ricer, and contemplated taking it off, but decided not to. A couple of weeks ago however some beerbottle wielding gentlemen sped up the removal of the spoiler by smashing numerous beer bottles on it. This was entirely unprovoked. I took off the heavily cracked spoiler and now im left with a few taped over holes and a sizeable ding.. all in all though I'm very happy with it. But its long and complicated. short answer: no Good answer - the only way to do it really, is register your car as a business car, and then see if you can get an employment exemption, worked for me! But thats because I have a Stagea... need it for umm.... carrying stuff Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/117780-p-plates-non-turbo-skyline/#findComment-2191332 Share on other sites
