hey everyone,

just wondering if anyone puts it in 5th, when going 60kph??

i'm thinking from a fuel economy point of view, less rpm, less petrol used? It's probably around 1700, 1800 rpm?

Is it bad, or make no difference, to use 5th when going 60?

Think of economy as how far your accelerator pedal is depressed, not how many revs it's doing. 4th with less pedal is probably better than 5th with more pedal. It does make the motor and driveline strain a bit.

At 60km/h if you keep it at 4th gear, the 34 revs at about 21 or 2200 rpms, doubt that takes much petrol. As everyone said, 5th is only after 80km/h. It'll really strain the gearbox if you put it to 5th at such low speeds. More harm than good done.

does it depend on the car or the gearbox or anything or is that just generally speaking it'll screw it?

I guess if you are talking about the RB25DET engine, those are the gears used. Depending on the gear ratio of something i presume? But correct me if i'm wrong on that part.

If i'm not mistaken, in my mate's integra, he revs at 3,200rpms at 100km/h. So i guess it really depends on which car ur talking about.
