2jz in my 33t, admitedly thought / wanked about this one, the driveability + the power to wieght, awsome,

3lt of sequential goodness and she is great stocky, the stock power + the usual bolt ons would own, then the price of doing it.

as I'd have to pay someone to do it, not haveing the patience and most importantly the no-how to do it safely, ie not have shit break under stress.

secondly, i'd want an manual and doubt the box that comes with the car could fit it.

third, i'd want to keep my active lsd, not likely to meet the torque requirements of the 3lt for long.

drop an 2jz and 6sp into my 33, we'd be talking over half the value of the car,

guess the car would be a shitload more saleable afterwoods though.

definetly cheaper than just buying a supra, but then again, 25+k for a non vvt supra is shithouse

whats the difference in wight between the iron rb25 and the .. iron ? 2jz-gte ?

Someone said that the V8 R33 would have crap handling. You are wrong. The all alloy LS1 weighs f**k all. I bet there would be less weight over the front wheels than a stock R33 GTSt. I don't think the 2JZ would weigh much for than a RB25, you have a little bit more block hight and the weight of an extra turbo. My R31 weighs in at 1380 with a towbar and some other bits and pieces and half a tank of fuel.

so who is gonna do the first 2jz 4wd gtr, surely someone will do it considering ive seen a full gtr 4wd setup installed into a vl commodore which would be 100 times more work than modifying the rb26 box to fit on the back of the 2jz and the 4wd sump to suit the 2jz.

There are pics of the gearbox Xmember in my first post. The engine X member is stock and unmodified. I just used R31 rubber mounts and made custom brackets to join it all up.

I have often thought of how poorly the RB25 is matched to such a heavy car as the Stagea and how the 2J would be much more suited, the RB26 would fair better than the 25, but the 2JZ would work MUCH better at moving such a heavy car. I think you will find it goes harder without having to ring the engines neck, and you will probably get better fuel economy too. How about selling the RB26 for its overinflated price and fitting a 2JZ into both cars?

I take it you have probably seen these before, but I figured while we were on the topic of Skylines being powered by non-Nissan engines, I might bring it up again. This R33 has a 5.7L LS1 V8 shoe-horned between the strut towers, done by Street Force in WA.

What the hell is this.....when did this happen......i thought holden and nissan combinations went out with the VL's........not a fan of holdens but hell, i think that it would fly.

Actually I think it was done to stick it up the Skyline boys rather than the Holden fans. I have long been a Holden fan (still am), I currently have a VN SS with a 350hp baby stroker sitting in the Garage, which is just begging to find its way into my R33..... Tempting, but I don't think I will do it. If I was going to do a V8 Skyline, then I would do a Supercharged 355 V8 or something similar - it would have to be a 10sec package to make it really stand out. It would be kind of stupid going to all that trouble and getting beaten by mildly modified Skylines....

Mate having owned a 5.0L ss and driven a handfull of LS1's i'd go the LS1 if i was blowing that much cash.. LS1's have HUGE top end compared to GEN2 v8s!! How cool would a supercharged GEN3 be in a 33 tho!

Car now runs a GT35 and does 12.1 @ 124mph. Reason for the crap ET is the stock torque converter and subsequent 2.35 second 60 foot time. I will be chasing 10's soon with a bigger converter as it now has the balls for a 10 second pass as the 124mph trap speed suggests.
