Ended! Gb: Gktech Front Mount Kits! $400! Ended!

Recommended Posts

Ok guys i'm organising a group buy for the GKTech front mount kits.

Starting 15/5 and ending in 2 weeks on the 29th/5 (or when we have 10 buyers, another GB will be started if this 1 fills)

Kits available to suit

S13/S14/S15

R32/R33/R34

A31

RNN14 GTi-R AND GC8 WRX!!

Details on the kits :

The front mount bar and plate intercooler kits are constructed entirely of high quality 6061 aluminum and the intercooler core is 100% vacuum brazed. The polished aluminum end tanks are hand TIG welded for a perfect fit. The ambient fin pitch has been adjusted to provide an optimal fin density of 15 fins/inch. This gives the intercooler excellent flow properties as well as a large cooling surface area, and the efficient Bar & Plate core takes advantage of these properties. The piping is all mandrel bent and contains only 1 weld mark throughout the whole kit. The kit includes 1x 600x 300x 76mm intercooler, polished aluminimum piping, all brackets, nuts, bolts, tripple layer silicon hoses, clamps etc.

The kits are designed to be installed DIY and are very easy to install.

Features & Specs:

-All TIG Welded 6061 Aluminum, polished end tanks

-100% Vacuum Brazed Core

-High Efficiency Bar & Plate Construction

-3 popular Sizes available

-Inlet/Outlet: 3inch

-Low pressure drop w/ only 0.2psi at 15psi of boost

-Tested CFM: 1020 CFM

-Fin Pitch: 15 Fins/Inch

ive been thinking of gettin a hybrid kit, but at this price these seem pretty attractive.. how do these compare to the hybrid stuff? does anyone have any experience with them?

PLENTY of these kits have been sold on SAU and ns.com etc...they're good quality, not some shoddy product...

genuine hybrids are $1200+ in store...and imo dont really compare to Blitz and ARC kits of similar price...but thats just my opinion :woot:

Hybrid is a brand that is manufactured in China, they market their products very well and spend A LOT of money on marketing. The gktech product fits great and is as good as the Hybrid, if not better. The reason the gktech kit is so much cheaper is that Greg (the owner) doesn't spend tens of thousands of dollars a year on marketing.

ok really interested, you were saying these are diy? How easy are they to put on as i have no experience in doing something this big!

Assuming you are talking about the R33 GTS-T kit you have to remove your piping that connects to the intercooler, remove your front bar, get a whole saw and cut a 3" hole just below the washer bottle (the exact location is in the installation guide), mount the intercooler with the provided brackets, mount the piping and silicon hoses, check to make sure the top pipe is not touching the fan blade (some people do say it touches slightly, others are fine, if it does touch you will need to trim the blade slightly accrodingly) and then tighten up the clamps once everything is fitted. The vacuum hose which was on the stock intercooler pipe is now to be T pieced off another vacuum hose (the hose that comes from the wastegate).

Overall the kit is not hard to install. If when installing your get into any difficulty we're available 7 days a week to help over the phone or email, PM, sms etc. etc.

what is involved in installing an r34 kit? ...well its in a stagea with an r34 gtt engine

...really need to fill the gaping hole in my front bar

The R33 GTS-T, R34 GTT and Stagea all require the same mods listed above.

Overall it's quite an easy kit to install and will certainly fill your gap in the front bar :)

Greg

definitely got my interest. will let you know asap.

And wat exactly is the difference between 'bar and plate' and 'tube and fin'? Any performance gain/loss using the bar and plate in this kit?

Thanks mate

The RB25 kit is the same as the R32 GTS-T further up the page.

This fits much better than the one you have hosted EGA41T as you can see where there is an extra pipe in our kit on that one there is not and the angle's aren't right where the 2 pipes meet up.

Musky - Bar and plate cools better, whereas tube and fin flows better. It's a catch 22 :S

P.S I'm leaving for Taiwan in a few hours and won't be back until Wednesday week. I may not be able to reply to queries within the usual 12 hour period. Sorrt for the inconvenience.

also how do these dimentions compare to the GTR size? not that its all that imporant but I'm looking for a IC that isn't too big however I have no idea when it comes to sizes...

    • Yeah, the latter. No diff should have a centre replaced without checking clearances because its unlikely to be the same as whatever came out. Not that that stops most people just checking a new centre in
    • Major thread necro but how bad of a job is it to DIY? Looking at it online it looks like if you reuse your ring and pinion as long as those are in good condition it should be fine to just pull the axles/front cover and replace the diff that way? Or should I be replacing everything and doing preload measurements/gear mesh testing like the factory service manual mentions for the rear diff?
    • in my list I had the R33 GTR as the best Skyline. Infact I had all GTR's (33>34=32), the NSX, the GTO, the 300ZX, the 180SX, the S15 better than the FD RX7. I had the MR2 and the A80 as 'just' better. I also think the DC5R Integra looks better but this is an 01 onwards car. I also think the FC>FD. It's almost like aesthetics are individual! The elements @GTSBoy likes about the FD and dislikes about the 180 are inverse in my eyes. I hate the rear end of the FD and it's weird tail lights that are bulbous and remind me of early hyundai excels. They are not striking, nor iconic, nor retro cool. The GTO has supercar proportions. I maintain these look much better in person (like the NSX) especially with nice wheels and suspension which is mandatory for all cars pretty much. Some (or all) of these you have to see in person to appreciate. You can't write a car off until you see one in the flesh IMO. Like most people we probably just like/dislike cars which represent certain eras of design or design styles in general. I also think the 60's Jag E type looks HORRIBLE, literally disgusting, and the 2000GT is nothing to write home about. FWIW I don't think the Dodge Viper Gen1's have aged very well either. You can probably see where I rate bubbly coupes like the FD. I know we're straying now but the C4 and C5 absolutely murder the Viper in the looks department as time goes on, for my eyes. Wouldn't surprise me if people who love the FD, also love the MX5, Dodge Viper, Jag E Type, etc etc.
    • I used to hate R31s, and any of the other Nissans that led up to it, and any of the Toyotas with similar styling, because of the boxiness. They were, and remain, childish, simplistic, and generally awful. I appreciate R31s a lot more now, but only the JDM 2 door. The ADM 4 door (and any other 4 door, even if they are unique compared to our local one) can eat a bowl of dicks. The Aussie R31 is also forever tarnished by their association with stereotypical bong clutching Aussie R31 owners of the 90s and early 2000s. I think the Nissans of the 70s (other than 120Y/180B/200B) are far superior looking to the 80s cars. The 240K era Skylines are boss. The same is broadly true of Toyotas. Hondas don't ever register in my thinking, from any era. Mitsus are all horrid shitboxen in any era, and so also don't register. Subarus are always awful, ditto. Daihatsus and Suzukis also don't generally register. They are all invisible. I think the SW20 MR2 looks fiddly. The 3000GT/GTO is like that but way worse. Too many silly plastic barnacles and fiddly gimmicks ruined what could have been a really nice base shape. Kinda-sorta looks like a big heavy ST165 Celica coupe (and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing). I think the 180SX is dreadfully bland. It's not bad looking. But it has no excitement to it at all. It's just a liftback coupe thing with no interest in its lines, and bad graphical elements (ie wide expanses of taillight plastic on the rear garnish). The S13 Silvia is a little better - getting closer to R32 shapes. But still....bland. S14? Nope. Don't love it. S15...a little better. Probably a lot better, actually. Benefits from not being like a shrunk in the wash R34 (where the S13 was a shrunk in the wash R32 and the S14 looked like a Pulsar or something else from the stable on Nissan mid 90s horrors). The Z32 was hot as f**k when it came out but hasn't aged as well as the A80. Keep in mind that I think the R33 is the most disgusting looking thing - and out of all the previous cars mentioned is objectively closest to my precious R32. It's just....real bad, almost everywhere you look. And that is down to the majority of what was designed in the 90s being shit. All Nissans from that era look like shit. Most other brands ditto. In that context, the FD absolutely stands out as being by far the best looking car, for reasons already discussed. Going behind the aesthetics, the suspension alone makes it better than almost any other car.
