Hi all,

I've been having this problem for about 6 months now, but I've been too lazy to fix it.

Basically I've got incredibly heavy steering - almost like I've got no power steering - and when I turn the steering wheel slowly, the revs don't rise like they used to. The fluid levels are fine, so it's not that. I had Mark at Hills hook it up to his little diagnostic machine and he said some sensor for the steering was screwed and not sensing properly (possbily on the steering rack? I can't remember). Does anyone know what this sensor is? This all seemed to happen when my wiring burnt out and I had to get it replaced (the guy in Japan did the DODGIEST wiring on his gauges).

I've also got error codes 22 and 32 for my HICAS which is kind of bad too I'm sure. I'd also like to get rid of that. Anyone know? I read a thread a while back that said if some wire from the speedo to somewhere else was missing, then the HICAS would give error codes. Does anyone know about this either?

Sorry for all the questions :D

Cheers,

Michael

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a wiring problem, as I had the whole thing rewired when it burnt out. The thing is though, when the steering wheel is turned hard, power steering kicks in. This would mean the right wire is attached. It makes it a bitch to drive in relatively smooth curves in the road as I can't always tell when the power steering will kick in.

Randy, I haven't checked it out as I thought someone here might have been able to just say "it's the XX sensor on your steering rack". I might have to take it in to a place like Whiteline if I can't resolve it myself.

Has anyone looked at their steering rack? Are there any sensors on it at all?

Cheers,

Michael

i had a similar problem while driving my r33 gts-t...

we were going around a corner at slow speed, and for some reason, the steering went incredibly heavy, like the power steering had cut-out and the HICAS warning like came on...

As to why this came on, i don't know... any help would be greatly appreciated!
