Doesnt matter anyway they will have the cars in their books and also have the same vehicle registered as well so plenty of evidence I think they know its dodgy I mean honestly a car thats done 155000k's even well looked after will still show signs of wear on the drivers seat and steering wheel more so than a genuine 40000 k vehicle

thats right, thats why any person that is buying an import has to look beyond the KM reading and actually physically inspect the car, or get a mate to.

I personally dont trust ANY imported cars (apart from Ians because I know the story behind it) km's.

Just think about this. 80% of ~1990 cars coming into the country are under 100,000......c'mon, if that isnt enough evidence for people to understand the need of looking at the car.

I bet this 150,000km car could still drive and feel like 40,000km. I know that my car is probably around 150,000km now, but with the oils and care I have about her, she will have 300,000km before she starts feeling tierd.

they sure are game, chopping 112,772km out of the odo....i'll love to go there and show them the jspec car and see their reaction...but they would probably deny any knowlege and say that "all our car have genuine millage"......lol.

as i said before, dont jump to conclusions, they may genuinly think they have a 40,000km car on their hands....

yeah maybe but j-spec stated the car was available with a supplier in japan which you would think would be the same supplier that e and m bought it from. do you really think that they would tell 2 different clients 2 different sets of k's on the same car? Thats a pretty dangerous position to be in for the supplier as if either client figured out what was going on dont think either would be too happy with the outcome. Also where is the benefit for the supplier they porbably wouldnt be able to jack the price up if they dropped the k's as dealers look for the biggest bargains which in the case fo grey imports generally means buying a high k's car and winding the clock back

As i said before, you have to be a fool to buy an import based on KM's. Look at the steering wheel, seat bolsters, door handles, gear knob etc

Glenn, about that, what about like this

- Dealer advertises for 3 months with Jspec+ few others

- No bites so they are like, f**k it, we'll wind it back. They dont inform the current advertisers so as to still get publicity on a similar car/model. If Jspec "sells" it, they could just reflash the KM's back or hold on to it for a little more and try to get a higher price and say its already sold.

- E&M start looking and come across it, impressed and buy it.

Theres a way they could not be at fault.

Look, my car had 72,000 on the clock when i got it a year ago, so it had done 72,000 in 8 years from 1997. 9,000 a year, I call bullshit. Sure the interior is good, steering wheel is good, body etc "was" good.... but still, I call bullshit at under 10,000km a year.

Only until we have a system like NZ with km checks at the docks, i personally dont not trust ANY imported cars odometer reading. I laugh when I see 15yo imports with under 100,000km's. What, 80% of people in japan drive under 5000km a year.......just because its a populated country doesnt mean they dont drive much.....

Meh, having dealt with the NSW office of fair trading, Vic office of fair trading and WA office of fair trading, they are all useless organizations that basically perform a minimal role at best... the dealer will just deny it and there is no way to prove the km's were wound back anyway.

PS - Remember when luke (munchdeisgn) found an 99.95% replica of his car at auction which had accident damage, but we worked out it was different...only by the grill.

PS - Remember when luke (munchdeisgn) found an 99.95% replica of his car at auction which had accident damage, but we worked out it was different...only by the grill.thanks heaps alex i agree with what your sayin i was just ribbin u a little if my post wakes one person up to look before they buy it was worth the effort personally id import my own thru jspec or imports 101 and would feel a little better knowing they will be looking for realistic vehicles for me as thats how they get buisnes from word of mouth and happy customers.altho there is always that the klms have been tickeled there too but a lot less chance .regards mike...............

I guess I am just a little suspicious of local import car dealers, there was a delaer over here in WA that I know for a fact was blatantly ripping off its customers I even caught them in the act. They had a wine red r33 with some pretty unique detailing on the dash that as not ready for sale and was in their holding area out the back I saw it there the first time complete with 145000 k's next time i saw it about a week later the dash and console was in pieces and instrument cluster was not in the car and the week after I saw the same car ready for sale on their lot with 53000 k's on the clock and a price to match the k's. Its no small wonder that they are no longer in business.

I guess I just distrust local dealers as they are alwasy so keen to make a buck that they will screw customers over in the process I doubt that the dealer would buy the car at higher price from japan as they want the cheapest car with the best condition so they can then wind the k's back and jack the price up. I guess I am just cynical but have worked with guys in the auto finance industry who worked for some suspect dealerships and it is accepted practice to do so.

I know a dealer(a friend) who winds back KM's, but who am I to be able to step in. Even when I wanted to buy a delica for myself, I said, so what is the real KM's (I knew it was wound back, clearly) and he said they are real they are real.

I guess, if you really want to get something really good, wait for something with some books, get faxes sent over, or if you are going to spend ~30-40k+, Id be booking flights and a tour guide to take you around looking at cars. Sure, it ups the cost by 3-5k, but divide that by the ammount of extra upkeep you dont need to do, and it really works itself out nicely.

exactly my feelings on the subject if you really are conerned about the cars make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth comb or get someone you trust to do it. Personally I would be looking at the trim and the service details on the car and as you said Alex also looking for service records and all the other bits and bobs that confirm if the k's are genuine may cost you more upfront but in the future it could save you a packet

I def believe my car's KM's which was imported through VRfour.

The interior & exterior reflects the 88,000km's it was at when l bought it, plus there were 2 service stickers stating the klm's at 88k's.

But yes this seems rather suspicious .... but isn't the original price tag of $32K a bit high for a S2 anyway?!?!

    • AFM looks to be a z32 The injectors maybe old Nismo 555cc The turbo tag when looked up seems to be a gt2871 , imagine it would have the bigger rear housing .82 all look like the mid 00's mods when he started building it up. Vac hose seems right but would need to see a diagram. Great work going up there and sorting it out, be a good club car for someone wanting a good reliable rig.  I know I would like to have it but no space and too many other race cars at the moment.

    • I can't agree. If we hadn't all been brought up with the noise caused by the inefficiency of an ICE, no-one would actually ask for all that. An EV is like any other car, it just goes better. 
    • 2 more things I have to work out Easy one first...can anyone describe how to pull the fuel pump and sender from a 33? I can feel there is some sort of mount and clips but don't have a manual and don't know the trick......if not I'll spend some quality time in the boot witha lighter tomorrow. Second question is harder.  He had changed the upper plenum to a plazmaman but clearly got to a point with the vacuum hoses where he said "f**k it, I'm going inside for a beer" and never came back to that job because it was a mess. Am I right to think that I need: 1. Pre throttle (16mm nipple on inlet) to AAC's main 20mm fitting as the main pre throttle feed 2. ACC has a second 13m outlet joined to that 20mm fitting which I think is the pre throttle air supply for the cold start valve? 3. Cold start valve's outlet fitting then goes to Plenum (to bypass throttle?) There is some adapter on the back of the ACC with 2 fittings (13mm and 10mm), do I run the 10mm through a 1 way valve to the Brake Booster (4) and the 13mm back to a 13mm nipple on the Plenum as the Idle control (5)? 6. Run a 6mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart BOV to the Plenum? 7. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Reg to the Plenum? 8. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart Boost controller to the Plenum? (Wastegate already has a pre turbo pressure source running to the solenoid then the wastegate on the other side of the bay)  Any help appreciated, the GTR is quite different setup and while the Stagea also has FFP it is different again. (And no Dose, I'm not pissing it all off and putting a ethrottle on it....)
    • OK, onto some questions to try and speed up the process a little. Does anyone know what core this Garret is? I know it is a high flowed standard turbo but nothing else about it. Tag says OK 0169J - 446179-5032 Same question for the injectors, I don't know what they flow and ideally can work it out before it hits the dyno, they are a mustard yellow side feed
