Steel Inlet Pipe To Turbo (air Filter -> Turbo)

Is there any benefit of replacing the rubber flexy hose with a steel inlet pipe between the air filter and the turbo?

Is there any power gain from this?

no power gain. its done to prevent it being sucked closed

Id say no but it will combat the problem of it sucking closed under big boost/hot conditions.

What sort of power figures would you need to be making

before you had to worry about it being sucked closed?

it does make a difference.. regardless if the stock rubber hose isnt sucking closed completely.. it still flexes each time you boost it with the sucking pressure of the turbo.. recently made solid intake pipe for a mates r32 gtst.. noticebly difference in driveability

huh, rekon I might make one... only thing to consider is those breather pipes... probably not a problem with a catch can. Might be an idea to do that first!

just recently made mine due to putting a bigger turbo on, i have a catch can but u still need to vent the air from your plumb back blow off valve into there if your still using the standard blow off valve that is!

sounds like he made it to me, not too hard if you get some alloy pipe and a little know how with a welder. (or you could use some pvc pipe )

doesnt matter wat you make it out of it'll work the same.. alloy for lightness stainless for shinyness(stays shiner longer than alloy) or mild steel on the cheap

all you need is a mig welder n some mild steal bends and a drop saw

its rather easy to do.. if you want alloy.. probaly better to buy the apexi kit..

if you want stainless for showy shine.. and you have your own tig.. and can weld .. go for it
