If you are in melbourne - id suggest u go to the dent maestro in cheltenham. thats where I went to get my dent - the one caused by the tint professor - to be fixed. They do a fantastic job, no paint work required, and a dent like that will be fixed in no time. Mine was fixed by Richard Mercep - ask for him, friendly dude (they sometimes come to your place to fix it up). If you get a qoute, the insurance company is sure to use these guys - better than taking your baby to some panel beaters who will no doubt remove the boot etc.

As for the lights, thats a different story. Any problems with my car I have a chat to Wayne at GTAuto Imports - he is more than happy to help out. But the dent is a minor job, it will be fixed in no time and at minimal cost.

Good luck bro.

You're Jokin' me, not even a day you get it back & it gets rammed by some halfwit who has no business being on the road...

I feel your pain man

Does your insurer let you choose your repairer or does it have to be an insurer approved workshop?

I know what Anjoo is going through - same shit happened to my car (1 day after i bought it). There are idiots out there who dont give a rats ass about other peoples property. Hopefully insurance will deal with this though. And most insurers will let you select the repairer i think - they are meant to have a look at hte qoute that u get them, then after that they assess the damage or something. This way they know if the price you ahve been qouted is appropriate. I think thats how it works with most of them.

I feel the pain.

I had only had my R34 a month or so and I was parked out the front of a mates place for 20 minutes and came out and someone had scratched and slightly dented the drivers door.

$700 and a couple of weeks of being messed around by the panel shop it was sorted.

The d!ipsh!its quoted me way to little because they didnt know it was a three layer pearl job till they had started.

not my problem, but it made them take ages.

Looks good now though. YEEEEEEEEEeeeeeee

the dint isnt something small...do they do big dints....my dad tells me they will have to cut the whole back part of the car off cuz my boots fully in by a coule of inches........u cant see dcat well cuz the pics were takn at night ill try get some more...in the mean time can this sorta thing be fixed...without it having any problems in t he future

i dont think this is gonna cost less then 1000 to fix -_____-"

Hmm, i believe they do all types of dints. Best thing is to give them a call, get them to have a look at your car. Reason I recommend them is that they do a quick and professional job. No panels need to be removed, and certainly no re-painting.

Forgot to add, the size of my dent was something like the size of an overgrown apple or orange. Richard had to remove the inner protective panels - the carpeted stuff, and he had to remove the lights to do it. Cost me $110.

Well, there are 2 things u can do. Either talk to Mark from SSV or Wayne from GT Auto Imports. They specifically deal with skylines. Wayne is more than happy to order parts from japan at a very good price (i got my rear lights through him). They both know what its like when shit like this happens to their skylines as well. And they got good contacts.

The second thing is you can try the dent maestro. The only thing i would be worried about is, if u take the car to a panel beater - and later if u have to sell it, people will be able to see the new paint work etc. It could be harder to sell for one. And 2, the car will never be the same. Removing the parts and repainting can help it rust more (atleast thats what happened to my dads car).

But yeah, I highly recommend both those dealers/importers for advice to do with repairs - and i highly recommend the dent repairers also. Maybe put up some clear pics of the dent if you can. You can also email the pics to dent maestro - and they might give u a rough estimate.

Good luck bro - i know it sucks when assholes do that to our precious cars - but thats why we got insurance to cover it.

i can only nominate one repair but the insurence company picks who gets the job

Then i'd suggest you talk to a couple of importers/compliancers - see if there are any good repairers around, then go and get qoutes from them. Ask them how they would do it etc. Then go to the insurance company and say that you really want this repairer to do that job - state your reasons (make a strong case for it).

My bros prelude - RACV wanted Woods auto panel beaters to do it, but he got a qoute from honda (a bit more), but he said that he prefers it be someone who knows what they are dealing with (i.e a honda workship). They should understand, if they dont, then ditch them.

Just to make it clear!

A VAN with a tyre at the front has RAMMED UP HIS ASS and pushed the boot 2" forward, this is no "tint-a-car" accedental dent!

Boot probably should be REPLACED, bumpers and reo removed and tail-gate pulled out into place. This job will easily cost over $1000.

If you live in Melb. take it to Gal's Smash Repair in Tulla. They are awesome! Adzmax, Mavric, and others, who live on the eastside, have made the trip because of the quality of work. I know someone that lives near Sale, got his car repaired there. Not sure how long they'll take, as they are pretty busy, but quality takes time and you'll be happier in the long run.

PS: Import/compliance shops are NOT pannel/spray shops and generally out-source their repairs for minimal cost, you best use a dedicated paint shop.

i agree with al... ain't no 'mr dint' job.

the rear panel is probably pushed in, might need replacing...

new reo, possibly new bar, new boot

+ paint and labour

Insurance job - 2.5K

Take it to GAL in Tullamarine

and to elaborate on what Al said - you can demand the car is repaired where you want to, as you're not at fault. You shoud tell your insurance company and they can deal with the other party's insurer. You are 100% entitled to take it where you want and have it repaired to pre-accident condition.

Good luck!

I agree with the above sentiments... When some monkey hit my car and pushed my rear bumper in the bumper itself didn't show much sign of damage, but when we pulled off the bumper it was clear the bumper support bar underneath (or reo) had to be replaced.

Also with the bootlid, most times when you have a hit, the hinges never line up the same again... Take it to someone who knows about skyline repairs, and have them make up a quote for you. Most workshops will just gloss over it and you'll get a half done job.

Hell... bring it down to driftline (0425855540) in campbellfield and we'll give you a nice quote to give their insurer :P (plus I think we've got a black rear bumper, support and bootlid that would bolt in). If you're not at fault the other party's insurer will send an assessor to assess the damage and talk to the workshop carrying out the repairs. This is done if the insurance company thinks that the quote is abnormally high. If they question why you have to use that specific repairer, just say that you don't trust other repairers to do as good a job and that they are unfamiliar with R34's.
