just read all that, tofu u had some bad luck there!

know how u feel though, when i got my car had to take it back to dealership like i dotn how many times to fix sh*t but they never did what he was meant to fix.

so ive had to fix heaps of it, kinda looks a bit dodgy coz had to get new rims coz the ones that came on the car werent good, so now my cars like hell high of the ground!

some of the damage was my fault when i had a lil accident

but i feel ya tofu!

engine work? yeah a little bit.

I did end up having enough time to get to the pits so it will br tomorrow norning. Did get a dyno on it and it hit 275 bhp @ 7500 . Im a little dissapointed with the result as there is quit a lull from what i can see there is a remapping issue *sigh* another thing on the to do list. lols

  • 3 weeks later...

Well its been a while since I have updated the progress on the struggle with the car.

About two weeks ago, after nearly having a break down with the shit that had been completed, need replacing and what need doing I approached an associate at JShop and asked for a huge favor. An expensive favor (sanity or money ???).But at the rate that i was attempting to get it licensed I was happy to spend the money getting a professional to finish the job.

So many issues have been brought to attention since its purchase and I am currently seeking some legal advice as there were a few serious concerns and neglect in the sale that were raised:

1. Car was sold with no front intrusion bar.

2. The only seatbelts that were fitted to the car were incorrect, the rear seat belts were used for the front and not attached correctly.

3. The diff was a stock diff, poorly weilded into a lock diff. This would of caused the issue with the wheel falling off.

Not really wanting to go into details about it but I am looking for the cost of repairs and replacement for the rims.

Well JShop has put nothing but there best effort into the car and after a week of hope they took the car to the pits early this afternoon. Well I get a call from them at around 4pm "the car broke down at the pits." Not on the way, at the pits. Come on guys, who can say this has happened to them. It seems to be electrical so hopefully Monday/Tuesday is the way to go.

Rim shopping monday, nice set of 17/18s with 3" of dish. *bling*

god damn andrew..

what caused it to break down?

not having the best of luck with this car are you!

hopefully it passes over next week, i want to see this thing out on the road, with number plates, and 4 wheels..

Nope, it was the kill switch going faulty and now that have been removed.

Well it failed the pits. The two big things:

1. Bent Chasis Rods.

2. All the boot racks need replacing

Another week at most but most likely another 2K in repairs will go towards the car.

*sigh* yeah, seems like it hey.

Well before work I just dropped the car off to the Panel Beaters to have the rails replaced and it seems like its not just the rails that are bent. :D:P

This is just unbelievable lol

    • Definitely didn't put a N/A cluster in instead? The speed sensor (location) is different in both cars.... I think. This will obviously stuff things up.
    • Nah not the throwout bearing, it's something internal. I already replaced the throwout bearing. Mechanic misdiagnosed my car and thought it was a spigot bearing, went to another bloke who said it was an input shaft bearing. (I replaced everything when I pulled out the gearbox but didn't open up the gearbox.   In this video at timestamp 6:05 : Mine has the same sound  min
    • It is definitely to space it out and away for clearance during compression, and possibly for spring clearance to upper arm. That latter would only be true for springs that are same-ish diameter to stockers, and so that probably doesn't apply to Teins or most other coilovers.
    • Yeah, a mechanic who knows these cars told me even if I get a brand new gearbox the noise will return but will be less noticeable. I've heard someone also they this noise came back after 3,000km on a new or reconditioned gearbox. It is pretty f**king annoying though just hearing groaning most of the time lol. I wonder if an aftermarket input shaft bearing would fix the problem or how they are built.
    • All RB gearbags, especially the big turbo box, have rollover noise. Mine certainly does. Always has. Sometimes is worse than others - no particular idea why, although it is probably temperature related. I have smurf jizz in mine and have had to have it in there from the first day the box went into teh car. It simply would not select gears with the engine on, on day one, with normal oil in there. And so, the blue stuff has probably ruined almost everything synchro related in the box. But it has taken 12 or 13 years to get to the point where I simply must replace the box. It has become increasingly baulky of late, which might be symptomatic of the way I've been driving it, as much as anything. I shall have to make some corrections when teh new box goes in. Input shaft bearing noise will decrease with clutch pedal pressed because the drive is removed. But yes, more often than not noises that work like that are associated with the throwout. It won't matter either way, new box will mean this one can be relegated to the parts pile.
