Howdy,

Here'd be my suggestion.

4 volt preout head unit. - $500

Splits in the front $300

Sub - $250

4 x 100 amp $500

mdf sub box $100 to make.

cables, wires - $50

$1600 - but will be a good stereo!

These prices are based on good shizzit.

You can get cheaper stuff at Jaycar and is not terrible stuff. But don't forget, you get what you pay for.

I'm sure there is a search you could do to find out even more!!

There is also a Car audio section to help you with installing it!!

Now that... is quality forum.

I would say save a little more, 1K could easy be spent on a decent headunit alone. Its just my thoughts you should go and see what sounds good to you.

oh dw about HU i forgot ive got 1.5k saved up just for a HU (plannin to get the new

ALPINE DVA-9860)

i mean 1k just on speakers n stuff

Without trying to sound like a smartass, you would be better off not buying that unit and saving your money,

There is nothing wrong with Alpine, I am not bagging the product, just that for about a $1000 less you would still be getting a unit that uses exactly the same laser assembly, pre amp, amp, staging ouput and tuner parts. You just lose some of the wankier things a high end unit gets nowadays.

And with an extra grand in the hand, the system would be much better overall. This extra money could also include some of the "hidden" costs.

- decent cable kit for your amp

- decent sub box

- sound deadening

- better installation ( after all it wont matter how good the gear if the install sux)

my 2c

Exactly what do you want/need that you have 1k to spend on? Speakers and stuff doesn't help much. Or better yet, You have money saved for the headunit, what else do you already have, or have money for that is excluded in your $1k budget?

ughmmmm

i got my dvd player for $250

wasnt like some over priced pioneer one. but did exactly the same stuff.

just go wateva headunit u want, 6inchers in the doors, 6x9's or more 6inchrs in the parcel shelf. and either to 10's or 1 12 or 15 inch sub in the boot. not over the top, and decent sound.

:P

I put some $149 Jaycar kevlar 6.5" splits in my R32 and they sound fine. Not top notch but they do the job. I used a $300 JVC MP3 CD with USB input headunit (JB hifi price) does everything I need with iPod input/control if i want more music in the car. Needs a sub to fill out the bottom end though which I installed last weekend.

If I was going to put splits in my R34 though I would not use the Jaycars.

i was at "Freeway Audio" in dandenong the other day and they were working on a hummer that had 3 way splits.....bloody unreal and looked even better..the cost of the spits were like 1200

You can spend HEAPS of money on audio. Look at a nice set of Dynaudio, Focal, Hertz, Boston (etc) 2-way splits ($400) for the front, and just a set of average 6-6.5" coaxials for the back ($100), find a 12"sub and box for $200 and spend the rest on a 4-channel amp and wiring. Jaycar's 4x100WRMS amp has more than enough power and sells for around $300. Run the front splits off 2 channels, bridge the other 2 channels for the sub and run the coaxials off the head unit and it'll sound awesome.

At the moment ive got cheap ass 12" Boss Audio subs in there. $50 each. They are running off a $120 1600 Boss Audio amp.

I wasnt really into stereo's so i thought i would go something cheap, wasnt looking for a big system.....i think i went the wrong option.

It is as loud as a mates setup which had 2 12' rockford's (not sure which ones) running off 2 sony monoblock amps.

All up i spent 220 on subs and he spent over a grand?

They have both latest the same amount of time. Ive had them in there for about 2.5 - 3 years now.

Sometimes the cheap way works lol :P

    • Pay diff/trans workshop to do this.   Nope. Z32 turbo ran R230 with 6 bolt GTR style axles. All other Z32 were R200. Basically same same as other R32 stuff. All were a viscous waste of space.
    • So, I'm not a diff swapsies specialist, but I am pretty sure the 300zx ran an R220 not and R200 like the C34 Stagea, so I think it is of no use to you. As you said, all you need to do is get the centre swapped in the diff you have, which might be best done by a diff specialist. The current centre is probably desirable to someone to track so an easy path might be to swap your mechanical centre for someone with a standard centre (which is a viscous LSD, and almost certainly won't have any limited left). The only thing you have to watch swapping R200 internals between diffs is that the number of splines on your car's stub axles has to match the donor car, or you need the centre+stub axles and make sure they have the same number and pattern of bolt holes as your rear axles.  You swap your current ratio onto the new centre so you don't have to worry about matching the front. Alternatively, centres like the Nismo pro are much gentler (and have adjustable "tightness") so you could buy on of those from somewhere like Jesse Streeter or Nengun (noting it may cost you 1234% extra in tariffs by the time it lands)
    • Id just remove the solid subframe bushes.  you are over complicating things.  on a side note make sure you do some research on the skyline shed before buying from them.
    • Just got back from overseas and once again Rego and service time. Supercheap auto cant find my plates on their list to match my car to buy a crush washer lolol. NRMA has my number plate linked to R35 GTR which i have explained once again that it is not a GTR. Its scary in the sense that if somthing happens and my insurance wont cover me if its the wrong car on their list even though they are the ones that have made the mistake. Im not sure NIGHTCRAWLER why the neg comment? Its a 2020 V37 400R Skyline? and asking for someone to post their VIN number is crazy just to prove it? Its a legit Nissan Skyline from japan factory 400R its does use the Q50 infinity chasis but this is the Japan model.
