Hellboy
hey guys, i have a question about importing a vehicle with a swapped engine. since my dad is overseas working, i am thinking about getting a car there and have him bring it back after a year or two. i'm currently looking at a series 6 FD which has a series 8 engine installed by the owner. the car costs about 10 grand which is a little higher than the average market value but it's really a bargain. my question is will there be any problem when importing it? i believe the engine was from a series 8 front cut. I have no idea about stuff related to the engine number and vin number. will i be able to import a car with a swapped engine? Please give me some advice. neil_se
Shouldn't be a problem, i imported a car with an engine conversion under the 15yo rule and personal imports have similar requirements. cowie165
Not that my comment is terribly helpful, but I remember reading that swapping for a newer engine is fine. It would be a problem if you were to go back to a S4 13B, for example. Best contact DOTARs. jantolis
If your dad buys it there and keeps it as his car, after a year aren't you allowed to bring it back without questions(like 15 year rule) if it was your car.
