Would U Run Yer Tyres On The Track If It Had A Nail Stuck In It?

Hi..i'm wondering if it is safe to run a mended tyre which had a nail in it on the track...i know the speed rating will drop after mending, but is it safe enough?

Any advice from track goers?

Well im not too sure but i wouldnt want to take the risk, imagine the tyre blowing at 230kmh

Done it before with no problem.

Had a screw hanging out of a track tyre the morning of a track day.

So long as the mend is professionally plugged and not on the sidewall seam, you should have no problems.

Just don't try mending it yourself.

I had a nail in my street tyres fixed and ran them on the track no problems.

Technically i don't think tyre places are suppose to fix those z/y rated tyres at all....

Just a small nail hole repaired from the inside with a mushroom is fine.

Dont let them plug it from the outside ( it was ilegal for a few years but its legal again) and if its on the sidewall throw the tyre away .
