Hey ppl im upgrading the brakes on my Jap Spec R31 Coupe.

Just wondering on what ill need to convert to 5 stud at front and rear aswell.

Im thinking of upgrading the callipers and rotors to R32 GTST as thet easily fit but was wondering on what i need to convert to 5 stud is there a easy way to change the hubs or do you have to change struts and stuff like that.

Any help will be much appreciated

Cheers MIKE......

best bet check the brakes/suspension and steering tech threads on forum.r31skylineclub.com

from what ive heard the front rotors u can change to R32, just carrying over the 5 stud hubs

unsure about the rear tho. U hav it easy tho cos a lot more will bolt on than onto the aus models. Im lookin to do a similar change soon on my turbo aus S3 sedan........rear im havin to look at re-drilled hubs

thats ya best bet, there'll b a few ppl who hav done this mod (or kno how) so try ya luck there

matty

Cheers for that and yeah ive looked there too and from what i can see on the forums and from what i actually have worked out, the hub on a Jap R31 has a taper bearing set up at the front and is not inter changable with any other skyline. The R32 has a straight shaft Bearing design so wil not just go in.To convert the front you need a S13 front strut and hub housing which has the striaght shaft bearing so you can put the R32 5 stud hub in that. Front Done.

The rear is a differant story as the hub extends into the diff, so one option is to weld up the 4 stud holes in the hub ( as it is not cast iron ), and drill the 5 stud into the original hub hey presto done.

The front is however a cast iron so is quite difficult to weld up to gain strength although some places do weld cast iron im not too keen on welding front hubs.

So does anyone know another option or have done this mod ?

Edited by trick

I have had the fronts changed on my 31 coupe, they simply re-drilled the hubs and slipped R33GTST rotors and calipers on. Had it done at Boostworx.

I haven't had the rears done yet but from all the previous discussions on the r31skyline club forums the best way to do them is to get N/A 31 hubs (extremely hard to find) as they are 5 stud and apparently fit straight in.
