Opened it up yesterday - it seems to confirm my suspicions that its actually for a CA18, it has 4 different-size slots cut in the disc, suggesting that its telling the ECU where each of 4 cylinders is.

well weve tried 2 so far and it needs to have the mistibishi symbol on it, aparently there was 3 different manufactors for the CAS on the red top rb 20's and the ecu is different to suit them, why do they make it this hard????

cause it's bloody nissan and they had a few 'teething' problems.

and they never thought to worry aobut the buggers 15 years later who were chasing parts!!! heheh!

Don't forget that the cars were never intened for Oz, only Japan - and if you keep a car more than 5 years in Japan, then it starts costing a fortune just to register it.

Have you tried any of the import wreckers (JMS or Toy Shop in Newcastle - www.japimports.com.au - EKW, SSS in Sydney)?

To test them, I think you simply plug it into the loom (dismounted from cam), turn ign to ON, and slowly rotate the spindle and you listen carefully for the coils firing.

we've tryed like 3 now from various places... all the above have been tried and many more.

most don't have them
