lol your rb26 obsessed, however it would have been better if it were. Although the turbo would have been to small imo. Regardless 26 or 25 it was still fun.

nah, just RB26/30 odsessed :ninja:

umm jason normally i would agree with you but on this case i wont (at least in part). So i should make a few points:

yes they charged more than the initial quote but they did do more work (replaced all exhaust studs and gasktet)

I'm not too upset with the total amount as i'm pretty sure any other given workshop would have charged similar.

and i too was sceptical about the turbotech problem so got them to show me the data straight off the dyno and it was there plain enough for me to understand that when they had ran the car it was dropping off boost when it shouldn't, so there was proof that it needed changing for whatever reason

and whats wrong with a 'hump' anyway? :ninja:

i was once going to go down that road but just got over it, where does it end when you start doing that...but Im having a relapse and now wish I had never moved on. When I finally do a 1/2j conversion i'll be cured..too bad it may be a while. I'll just freeload in everyones cars on here until then, although everyone that used to frequent here is never on nowadays and everyone who still does has moved on to different cars....lifes tough.

jason, if a workshop finds parts that are farked, of course they gotta replace them. everyone should understand modifying cars isnt as easy as drawing up a quote and being able to stick to it. if it was, ALOT of workshops would not be here today.

i can see this turning into another slander the workshop session :ninja:

yeah i'll make it clear that they notified me of all additional work except the bleed valve but from what i understand the car was on the dyno and they were troubleshooting the problem, threw on the bleed valve and it fixed it so naturally they left it on there, they happily proved that the car was run on the dyno and i saw the boost curve that was dropping off, so i was happy with that

26/30 with twin high mounted 3037s...you know you want to!

havnt decided yet...i know i want 7-800hp, but not sure if i want big sinlge or twins & if i want it for track or drag. i've got a set of brand spankin R34 N1's ready to go on, so that'll give it a bit of a boot to help me decide

theres already the 101 thread for that....from what little i've had to do with Mercury they have been ok.

i can second that :ninja:

fair enough if somethings farked, it needs replacing, i'm not a complete f**king idiot you know... it would, however, in my case anyway (not sure about with Konrad) be nice if they called me and told me that this, this, and this needed replacing as well, and to do this, it would have cost $X.

i could have then decided if i wanted them to do the work or not etc.

no, they didn't do that, they just hit me with it all when i rocked up, with the exact amount from the quote, IN CASH (i'm not talking some piddly like $100 oil change here, i'm talking $4k Cash) and then refused to let me take the car until i coughed up the rest of the money.

When i told them, no, i have a quote, i am paying what is on the quote, i give no fark if you did UNAUTHORISED work to the car (and over half the work they did was f**kED UP ANYWAY and i had to spend MORE money to fix it, because they wouldn't), they made a big scene about it and started arguing with me in front of other customers!

I'm sorry, but that is f**king shithouse customer service, and i will never, ever, ever take my car to them again.

and that's only the tip of the iceberg with my beef with them.

Big twins is proven for both drag and track I guess thats the appeal I always liked, Endless use that configuration for their track cars and as do a lot of companies use them for drag cars (and they run consistently good times) I suppose 2835's are probably more suited to track work though. Depends on how much your going to build the engine as well, I suppose. Turbo configuration will always depend on the engine its going onto.
