I rang Qld transport about my fine today, they told me that a pod is fine so long as it is secured and is flame retardent but a aftermarket ECU can never be mod plated as it is adjustable and therefore cant be trusted to be within ADR giudelines, I guess I sort of knew that but now I know for sure.

years ago when the wrx came out, they were very popular with the thieves - smash n grab, etc - the cops couldn't keep up with them.

NSW Police ended up buying a few.

Just imagine if the GC cops got a couple of GTRs

that was because of brian el hassan "MR WRX" god of autosalon a few times over the years with different wrx's etc, also features on the first ignition dvd that was released, anyway he had a crime syndicate in sydney , they were stealing wrx's and car jacking ppl ( that is why the insurance went up on them in particularwhen they first were released) but he also had the fastest wrx wagon in the world (red one) raced at jambo a few times, it was stolen aswell, they were stealing cars and selling them as parts or sending them to his brothers chop shop in lebanon in shipping containers. they used to go to a car yard and steal a brand new wrx, then stripp it dump the body then go to police auctions and bid for the chassis for say $10K then go put all the stuff back in it, they got brand new wrx for $10K. they were pretty smart guys until the police realised something was up. was on four corners ages ago about them.

so i guess the trick is to tune your car but not have the hand controller visible in the car or attached, that way they will never be able to tell u have an aftermarket ecu or not.

aslong as the pod is secure its ok, dont know what trip the cop was on with that one, but some dont know there own rules. which is why they shouldnt hand out random fines for stuff they dont know its so crap, u have to prove your innocence, not the other way round, innocent till proven guilty.
