So in theory if the motor is as good as what im told, there is no reason why it couldnt be a 600rwhp car, or there abouts.

on a side note, dirtgarage is building his new motor with GTRS strapped to the side, will be interesting to compare his dyno graph to mine

from my research, boost is just a restriction, and the more u feed in the more restriciton u have, match the right head, cams and pipework to the turbo's, and u wont have to wind in as much boost, for example sydneykid has a car down nsw that makes over 800bhp with GTRS on 1.5bar

You make an interesting point, so your saying boost creates friction thus friction creates restriction or something along those lines? First I've heard, I guess it could make sense, I just duno as I've never researched it.

In saying that though, with a mid level built head, wouldn't more boost be better, as you can push the extra air into it?

say if ur head only flows 500cfm, and tune the boost for this 500cfm, and then decide u want more power so u mind in more boost, create an effective 550cfm, the motors going to be working alot harder to get that extra 50cfm through cmopared to a head that can flow 600cfm, and will create more heat etc etc.

i'll paste the PM SK sent me regarding these issues:

Let's start off with AFMs, the right sized ones are never a restriction. AFM's are simply the best way to tune a car, far better than MAP sensors as a load reference. So if you think that by going to a MAP sensor driven ECU you are achieving a better result, then you are mistaken. An example. the Apexi works drag car (V Max as it is known) makes over 1,100 bhp, runs high 8's at 150 mph and it runs AFM's (2 x Q45's to be precise).

HKS rate the GTRS's at

HKS rating is usually around 10% below what the turbo is actually capable of. An example, the Dirt Garage R32GTR achieved 443 rwkw (~700 bhp) out of 2 x 2530's (rated at 320 bhp each). Since HKS rate the GTRS's at 350 bhp each, then around 760 bhp is achievable.

More airflow at the lowest possible boost depends on getting the air in as efficiently as possible, using it efficiently while it being conbusted and then getting it out as efficiently as possible.

Some of the restrictions you are going to see when aiming for that sort of power;

1. Exhaust will need to be 4" from the dump pipe joining point rearwards (that includes the cat). This means it will never be street legal at 750 bhp.

2. Intercooler will need to be at least 100 mm think (x 600 mm x 300 mm). Single entry or twin entry makes no difference as long as it is done right. Keep the gas velocity up, don't make the pipework larger than 55mm from each turbo. Them no larger than 90 mm from the intercooler to the plenum (80 mm is better).

3. The cylinder head will require extensive porting, including carefull matching of the inlet and exhaust manifolds.

4. Speaking of exhaust manifolds, they will need to be matched to the turbos flow and physical dimensions

5. The standard throttle bodies are OK at 750 bhp, but the plenum looses its flow balance over 65 lbs of air per minute and you get hard to tune individual cylinders. Hence the need for the Nismo plenum.

6. The cams will need substantial lift, at least 10.3 mm minimum, the duration is up to your choice of rpm range. I would suggest around 272 degrees, for both inlet and exhaust. Obviously that means valve springs as well as machining the cylinder head to clear the high lift lobes.

7. You will need to replace the exhaust valves, stainless and at least 0.5 mm larger than standard, preferably 1 mm. Inlet valves not as critical, if they need replacing, go for a 0.5 mm upgrade.

8. Be very carefull with mucking up the standard squish by running poorly designed pistons or thick head gaskets. Nissan got the squish zones just right, so don't screw with them.

In summary look at everything between the turbo compressor outlet and the exhaust tip as a potential restriction.

too bad ti is expensive as f**k, plus i live in ipswich mate, and still want to do some hill 'cruises' etc, so im sure the po po wont like straight pipe :(

Bah straight pipe, I ran around for 3 months with my rb20 with straigh pipe in noosa. only made it to a month with the quick R32 just running a dump pipe :(

What can I say, I have a fetish for the truck like rb note you get with straight pipes <3

I havent heard his car, the moive u have seen of my car on you tube was just the dump pipe, sounded alright, they need some length in the pipe to get a note if you not running mufflers though

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4

    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway.
