I forked out the $4K+ myself  and got parts back within a week after the workshop was broken into (so much for being proactive)

I feel that it was a mistake now to pay upfront. Although in my world, if someone pays me upfront I will make sure your looked after

TBH, I believe problem is that the workshop is not what it used to be say 5-7yrs ago where he had other mechs working for him and turning over cars really quickly.

He has since downsized significantly (from my observation) which makes sense due to the the past i.e. GFC and current econcomic climate, however he is still taking on the same level of workload when he is already at full capacity.

Also being told that things are being done when they are not, doesnt impress me. Just don't BS me!

if stolen from his workshop, his insurance should pay, not you.

also, never pay until the jobs done.

gives them incentive to work.

im like you, they help, I go out of my way for them.

everyone else is not like this.

:( im sure this was talked about already. At least its not yours, they're fine as long as you dont have to own it :P

My old mans has had 6 recalls already.

That was recently? The most recent recall was for chassis rails cracking if the towbar has been loaded up to much.....Apparently its all to do with the towbar design being incorrect and that causes the chassis to crack...lol. they just put a new towbar under it.

Ive also heard many bad things about the diff. My old mans is still ok, other than having a slight whine. But he does drive like a grandpa.

if the chassis is cracked, its cleaned and welded, and the new bar put on.

the way I see it, its more from people overloading the downforce on the bar, not the pulling.

if you have a nicely balanced(0kg down) 3t trailer, I dont think it would crack.

it you had a 1t trailer with all the weight at the front(say 250kg down), its over the downward load rating.

the new design now has vertical plates with an extra 2 bolts per side to help.

havnt seen any navara diffs yet.

have seen pathfinder one.

I know how you feel.

keep pushing, take to small claims court if you must.

dont wipe your hands of it.

also, confront him about how long its taking.

tell him you want the car done by xx or you will pick it up and want ALL your money(incl stolen parts)back.

Have thought about all of the above god knows how many times.

I think I have been very patient and I'm gonna need to put my foot down as you.

Do it Ants. Or just start bad mouthing them. Let everybody know how you've been treated. Name and shame, just make sure you don't do it on SAU, as the admin will kick you.

I'm not that type to bad mouth and I'm really hoping to resolve this situation maturely. In addition to that I would never do that on SAU as regardless of what the admins think I already know it's inappropriate to do that on a public forum.

I do have faith in my mech I just want to be treated fairly like everyone else.

Nick.. What car? Photos?

He was in the skevy. Has already been to my place and I have looked it over. Mainly all cosmetic damage. I'll let Nick go into more details once he sobers up tomorrow
