I did Ants, there are about 15 ASUS 1150 socket boards so which one is it?

It's like saying 'this skyline has a garret turbo' in an ad, what garret turbo? The 1150 boards range in price from sub $50 to $400-$500 with vast differences in features.

I would look at a samsung 840 - 250gb SSD for main drive and a 2 or 3 TB secondary drive that should meet your performance and storage needs.

An SSD is probably not possible with a $1000 budget, especially if that $1000 includes an monitor.

ahh ok. Thanks for that.

I just after something within the 1500 range not something that costs as much as small car.

$1500 is doable if you go the AMD route.

I'd say its still doable with Intel, but it will become obsolete sooner. I have a pathological hatred for AMD after some very bad experiences with them.

I'll spec up an AMD system after dinner

in 17 years I have

-Built 6000 AMD systems to date, had 4 fail inside warranty

-Built 8-9000 Intel systems and had considerably more fail (upwards of 200) inside warranty (that being said I have built nearly 3000 more of them)

Advanced Micro Devices, They make Cheaper CPU's and nowday's APU's.

Some of the newer AMD Chips are really good and priced in a manner that allows for more coin to be spent on Mobo and GPU.

Some manufacturers make Generic Ram that has better Latency than the big names but slightly lower clock speeds...time to OC that shit and same some dollars.

I've never had an issue with any Intel system I have built and the 3 AMD systems I built were the most unstable pieces of crap I have ever used. But that was just before AMD lost a lot of market share so they may be a lot better now.

Ok. I just need some guidance where I can get buy / build a computer that is reasonably powerful enough for occasional gaming and lots of media.

Looks like there is 3 of us who can build you one Ants :P
