it wont look right on you Mike you need to change that name Anna to Aaron (or any male name) trust me it'll go with your car

He sure is. Mt Cotton are not fans of Skylines at all. But I spoke to him 2 days ago, and he's agreed to put his reputation with them on the line as long as we all sign forms agreeing to their rules. Which includes...

$300 for a full day - this includes theory for a little part of the morning, and the rest of the day on the track

The usual 80db shit

No linking corners (as long as you can show some effort to 'regain control' between one corne and the next, that's fine)

No handbrake action

Anyone disobeyeing direct instruction by him will be off, with no refund, no questions asked

I think all the conditions set out are fair. We have a bad enough rep as it is, I think if we behave, this will stand us in good stead for having more days out there, and it will be a good opportunity to showcase that we as a club, are responsible drivers, not baby eating monsters as everyone else believes.

80db ur joking right?

how many skylines would actually be 80 or under?

excellent work anna. i think we can all agree to those rules. by 80db do you mean exhaust or us :D

what claims? i didnt make any except that i would take anyone on

and i stand by that, i will take anyone on. there is a QR track day being organised by mx5 club of queensland on the 27th of feb, if anyone wants to come prove themself

That's a standard thing, and most people already have made it. Fist your exhaust with steel wool. Deadens the sound while still everything it to 'flow' as it should

hmmm, an interesting proposition

girl - "what are you doing?"

mike - "taking a photo to put up on the net for everyone to see"

girl - "WHAT!!!!!"

*mike starts to run*

yeah, not a good idea really

At Mt Cotton my car came in at around 93db, I put a silencer on it and it scrapped through, but on the day some comments were made about its noise, the guy in charge made sure they werent testing noise levels when I was going around, in other words he went right out on a limb to make sure I wasnt expelled.

sounds like a metamucil commercial

thats an interesting idea actually  will look into it. let me know when they do organise something for us all anyway, i'm keen for a drive up there

The usual 80db shit

Unless SDT/Mt Cotton have changed, the requirement was always for 90db. They also allow for a 1.5dB tolerance, so you need to be 88.5dB or under.

Last time SAu Qld were there (April 2006), 2 readings were taken one at 3200rpm and the other at 4000rpm

I pretty sure mike is very well practiced in getting Fisted but prolly has never fisted any thing

and sif it still flows properly..... the look of burning steel wool flying outa your exhast is quite cool...

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
