Soooo, is anyone heading out to either the Downshift Hamilton meet this saturday or the Aus garage Event on sunday?

I was thinking about attending downshift then saw that 500+ people were attending as per facebook and though naaaaaaaaaah

At the end of the day Dave, I know you and small handful of others are upset with us moving back here. Give it a go and see how it goes. If you don't like it run for President again at the AGM (which is coming up very soon) and you can poll the members and make descisions based on a majority vote which is exactly what this exec did. They didn't force anyones hand, they didn't bribe or pursuade anyone. They had an idea with the best intentions for the club in mind, they put it to the members and a MAJORITY voted in favour of returning.

Secondly. I have a full copy of the old site so it can be reinstated at any time should the member base wish to do so by a majority vote. I have always served at the pleasure of the exec and will continue to do so regardless of where the club lives online. For me, it is all about the events and actually doing something with my cars. Being back here is good because it is all in the one place which makes it easier.

Happy to discuss this in further detail with you in person if you like, perhaps over a few drinks. ( no straws in yours this time i promise :) )

I might head to the aus garage one, depending on what time cricket finishes.

We've got the Dyno Day on Saturday at EFI. What time is DS?

Looks like it starts at 2pm till 6pm, so after the dyno day.

I will tell you to your face. Where are you going with this line of reasoning?

You cannot come onto a public forum, make accusations and threats of leaving and expect nothing in return. seriously Dave. I had higher expectations from you of all people. You have sat in the hot seat before and know all to well how best intentions by any exec can be misunderstood at times and often when a "QUESTION" is asked a reasonable and logical answer can be found.

Or are you just being an attention whore?

That did escalate quite quickly. There has been the constant assumption that we're power-hungry dictators trying to reap all the benefits for ourselves.

I for one know that the guys on the exec have worked bloody hard to get us to where we are. The club is moving at a great pace and there is a lot on offer for the members. We have regular events and outings for our members, that we as the exec are almost obligated to attend. We attend these events in the minimal spare time that we have. Since joining the exec, I haven't had the time to even see good friends of mine.

So this constant bickering from you is enough. If you think that you could do a better job, nominate yourself for the role when the time comes - should be end of July.

And yes, I would say this to your face but it's not like you actually attend any events anyway. You are essentially harping on about something that doesn't even effect you.

Sorry Ben, I am not "unhappy" with the move back here, in fact I find it funny that even though we have moved back here, we still have 2 whoretowns... Kind of defeats the purpose???

I was not trying to accuse any individual of nefarious doings, I just know that we were assured that the old site would stay "read only" for a while, and I appreciated that so I could grab some stuff that was important to those of us who have been around longer than 5 minutes.

Tony, I attend as many events as I can, it is just that with 12 hour shifts, a 3 year old daughter and a car that costs a fortune to run, I pick and choose, as is my right. And I have sat in your chair before... I was President and filled various other positions on the Executive for several years. I also organised the Charity Cruise for 4 years straight. I decided after so many years at the front of the line that it was time for those who whinged the most to stand up and be counted. That was 3 years ago when most of you hadn't even heard of this club.

Ben, I am sorry if you feel slighted in any way, and to be honest, I didn't realise it was you, but I dislike these people who don't even take the time to walk up and shake my hand, to then criticize my posts at every turn. I have done the hard yards and I think I deserve some respect. If any of you reading this doubt my longevity, have a look at my user info and see how long I have been a member of not only this forum, but the club.

Dave, I know exactly who you are and where you were. 60-80 hour weeks, 3 year old (who belongs to the girlfriend), a car that costs a truckload to run, attending 'almost' every event on the SAU calendar, hosting Exec meetings at my place, contacting venues about sponsorship, amongst many other things. Having organised four charity cruises, you of all people should understand the level of effort that it takes to organise events. The time it takes to scout a cruise route. The stuffing around when you haven't got enough attendees. The issues caused when too many people want to come at the last minute and have paid already. When other execs are caught up and can't be found. You stood down when those that whinged the most needed to stand up? Well, you seem to be doing the whinging mate and I'm calling you out. Feel free to run again if you believe that you can do it better. I was responding to Benno's emails at 3am with the forum relocation because it needed to be acted upon. Almost everyone is time-poor and I know that every member of the Exec is incredibly time poor. We do what we do for the love and for the satisfaction of the members. The majority of those in the club love what we offer and are beaming when they arrive and leave events.

So here I am calling you out, if you believe that you can do a better job, nominate yourself for election again. And yes, I am doing exactly what you yourself said that you did when people were complaining. That is all.

    • Ahh...should have been clearer ~ there's 2 ... SMJ = super multi junction (connector)...   ...this is connector 6 & 25 in above image -- body harness to engine loom (6) & body harness to main loom (25) Headlights go to front via connector 6 ; fuel gauge goes to tank sender via connector 25  ...like I say this is R33 diagrams, but at a pinch R34 won't be too far different. *IF* the two ground faults are related, this can be the only place where both wires converge (as one runs to the back, the other to the front)... ....thing is, you probably need to establish if the faults are related (unless you examine that area and find obvious chaffing on the looms there to body ground)....*IF* the fuel gauge is still broken (full needle deflection), I'd be headed for the boot, remove fuel sender wire, key on and measure the voltage there ~ it should be roughly 10volts. If that's ok, check sender to ground resistance...if this is a dead short to ground (and there's fuel in it), then sender has failed or something funky has happened to wiring in the tank. edit: ahh...rereading the thread, this is R32....above fuel sender test still valid tho'
    • I just changed the timing belt on my RB25DET NEO and wanted to get some opinions. I’ve been super cautious, did a lot of research, and took my time. I’ve driven the car, and it runs fine. After warming it up, I revved it to 8000 RPM a few times—no issues, everything held up.   After the drive, I heard a noise that I think is either the clutch or possibly a tight accessory belt. It’s not constant, just comes and goes.   I took the timing cover off to double-check everything:   Belt is on properly, Tensioner is tight, Did the 90-degree twist test—belt isn’t too tight or too loose.     What still worries me is that I noticed the belt seems to sit a little toward the front edge of the gears, especially on the idler pulley. It even looks like it’s slightly coming off the edge there. Is that normal?   My old belt (5 years old, ~3,000 miles) also showed a bit of wear on that same edge, so maybe it’s just how it sits? I’m probably overthinking this, but since it’s my first time doing this on a NEO and the engine is forged, I really don’t want to mess anything up.   Also, I’m thinking of swapping to a clear front timing cover with the glass window. Would you recommend NITO or HPI? HPI looks reputable and their covers have 2.5mm thickness, but not sure if there’s a real difference between the two.   Any advice or reassurance would be much appreciated!
    • 40 grit sounds about right, to start. You make some decent cuts/damage in the coating with that, then rapdily scale up to maybe 80 and 120 for the bulk of the actual removal, then fine it off to 180 or 240 perhaps. No need to go any finer than that, and maybe no need to go even as fine as that. Wrap it on a big block and have at it. At least on the hub face.
    • Do the GKTech rear lower control arm mount relocation, and either alloy subframe inserts or very stiff subframe bushes. Traction is going to be at a premium!
    • Hello,   My name if Frederick, i'm 30 years old and I live in Belgium, Europe! I used to have a Nissan 370z daily but since I got a company car I turned that into my seattime driftcar. About 3 years ago I also wanted something older with more feel, so I got an R32 GTST with an rb26 engine. I am now getting the rb built to have around 800hp and it's close to being finished. I'm very excited for how it will drive and how driveable it will be! Regards, Fred!
